The mouth-watering program for April’s Shore Leave Festival in Geraldton has expanded with three new events just released.
The Stories of Country with Warralgurniya is a celebration of local indigenous food and culture. Traditional music and cuisine will combine in a celebration of Yamaji culture.
Geraldton’s RT’s Café and Restaurant specialises in Australian bush flavours and Head Chef Mya Walker, a young Noongar woman, will be creating delicious dishes including Geraldton wax poached prawn and quandong sweet chilli mango rolled in a lettuce leaf, crocodile filo cups with spicy aniseed myrtle slaw and more.
Peter Salmon from WA’s Upper Gascoyne region is a key knowledge holder for the Thiinma people and will share his language and knowledge through song.
A working stockman and WAM Song of the Year Award-winning songwriter, Peter will perform in collaboration with musician Rosie Sitorus and linguist Jacqui Cook, expertly weaving contemporary yarns informed by ancient knowledge with country, blues and folk influences.
