1. Sail through a Disney classic
Disneyland Park’s Pirates of the Caribbean attraction has been enticing guests into the Golden Age of Piracy since 1967. Travellers board a weathered barge before navigating waterfalls, cannon fire, a 12-gun galleon, hidden treasure and appearances from Captain Jack Sparrow. For dinner with a view, nearby Blue Bayou Restaurant overlooks the attraction’s boats as they pass through the bayou.
2. An interactive pirate adventure
At Pirate’s Dinner Adventure in nearby Buena Park, guests become part of an action-packed production staged aboard a replica 18th-century Spanish galleon in an indoor lagoon holding almost 950,000 litres of water. The family-friendly spectacle combines sword fights, aerial artistry, special effects and thrilling stunts with a multi-course dinner.
3. Pirate ship play
At Howard Johnson Anaheim Hotel and Water Playground, families can grab their crew and head to Castaway Cove, an on-site pirate-themed water playground. Older children can climb aboard the pirate ship, complete with four mini water cannons, a 757-litre drench bucket and curving waterslide, while younger buccaneers can explore 13 spray fountains and a beach-entry wading pool. The hotel is located opposite Disneyland Resort.
4.Drink in the atmosphere
After hours, continue the theme at Strong Water Anaheim, an immersive bar and restaurant designed as the interior of a wrecked pirate ship. Its cocktail menu draws heavily on rum and seafaring lore, with house creations served alongside Caribbean and Polynesian-inspired dishes such as cannonball tots. Strong Water was a James Beard Award nominee for Outstanding Wine and Other Beverages Program in 2024 and 2025.
Adventures at sea
The adventures continue on the Orange County coast with Lively Schooner, operating Newport Harbor and coastal cruises aboard its classic sailing yacht or aboard Mayflower, a 1960 tall ship just perfect for pirate-themed parties. Private tiki boat cruises through Newport Harbor are another way to chart a course with all hands on deck!
