Barnsley Resort, a 3,000-acre luxury retreat nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, announces the appointment of Mark Spadoni as Managing Director. With more than three decades of experience leading renowned hospitality properties throughout the South, Spadoni brings extensive leadership expertise and a deep understanding of operating complex destination resorts to his role.
“I’m honored to join Barnsley Resort at such an exciting time in the property’s storied history,” says Spadoni. “Following the recent resort-wide enhancements, Barnsley Resort has further solidified its position as a premier destination in the Southeast with standout accommodations, dining and recreational experiences. I look forward to ushering in this next chapter of the resort and welcoming new and repeat guests to create unforgettable memories.”

In his role at Barnsley Resort, Spadoni will oversee all facets of the 3,000-acre property, leading operations across accommodations, food and beverage, wellness, golf, outdoor recreation and guest experience while guiding strategic initiatives to enhance the resort’s position as a leading destination in the South, just an hour north of metro Atlanta.
Most recently, Spadoni served as Managing Director of The Omni Homestead Resort & Spa in Hot Springs, Virginia, where he oversaw operations of the historic AAA 4 Diamond, 483-room resort, including 12 food and beverage outlets, 76,000 square feet of meeting space, two 18-hole golf courses, a two-acre waterpark and a diverse range of recreational experiences. Under his leadership, the resort underwent a substantial renovation and rebrand and expanded its guest experience through innovative programming and high-profile events across various guest sectors including golf, culinary, wine and recreation.
Throughout his career, Spadoni has built a reputation for operational excellence, guiding complex destination resorts through sustained growth, strategic repositioning and operational enhancements that have transformed properties into high-performing luxury destinations. His experience includes two decades as the general manager of The Westin Savannah Harbor Golf Resort & Spa and Club at Savannah Harbor, along with leading Westin hotels in Hilton Head, South Carolina; Stamford, Connecticut; New York City; New Orleans; Fort Lauderdale, Florida; and Lihue, Hawaii. Across each role, Spadoni has helped shape distinctive destinations while cultivating high-performing teams and a strong culture of hospitality.
Spadoni’s appointment arrives on the heels of an extensive renovation investment at Barnsley Resort and the debut of several new amenities at the close of 2025 under ownership group South Street Partners, one of the largest owners and operators of private residential club and resort communities in the United States, with a portfolio that includes Kiawah Island, Palmetto Bluff, PGA National, Naples Grande and The King and Prince Beach & Golf Resort. The enhancements at Barnsley Resort have spanned the transformative redesign of 85 cottage suites in partnership with leading designer Charlotte Lucas, improvements to the Barnsley Resort Shooting Grounds and the addition of signature restaurant Jules, six new pickleball courts, a German-inspired Biergarten, a second family-friendly pool with lazy river and The Merger, an 18-hole Himalayas-style putting course. Most recently, Barnsley Resort’s all-day dining concept, Woodlands, and neighboring Dugan’s Pub have been transformed by David Thompson Studio to reflect the rich history of the property through natural materials, layered furnishings and curated artwork, including original landscape paintings and a wall installation featuring vintage duck decoys.
