Despegar, Latin America’s leading travel tech company, and Civitatis, the world’s leading platform for the distribution of tours and activities in Spanish and Portuguese, have announced the signing of a global strategic partnership. Through this agreement, both companies will work on integrating Civitatis’ catalog into Despegar’s platform. Once this implementation is complete, Despegar’s more than 30 million customers will be able to access Civitatis’ full catalog of tours, excursions, and guided tours across all markets where the company operates.
The collaboration combines Despegar’s well-established presence in the Latin American market with Civitatis’ expertise in the Spanish and Portuguese tours and activities segment.
“This agreement represents the coming together of two industry leaders committed to innovation and traveler satisfaction. Latin America is a strategic market for us, and partnering with a giant such as Despegar is key to our growth ambitions,” said Andrés Spitzer, CEO of Civitatis. “Our goal is to help Despegar travelers enhance their travel experience with high-quality services that are carefully selected and available in their native language.”
For his part, Iván Lovisolo, VP Global Partners at Despegar, stated: “Today’s travelers want to enjoy authentic experiences and make the most of every moment of their journey. Through this partnership with Civitatis, we are strengthening our value proposition and taking another step forward in our mission to accompany travelers at every stage of their journey, with an increasingly comprehensive and personalized offering.”
This partnership reinforces Despegar’s commitment to seamlessly connecting every aspect of the travel experience through a simple, reliable and personalized booking experience, allowing travelers to organize their entire trip in one place.
Within this roadmap, Brazil will play a particularly important role. The combination of Despegar’s strong presence in the Brazilian market and Civitatis’ leadership in Portuguese-speaking markets will enable millions of travelers to access an even broader range of experiences, driving growth in the category in one of Latin America’s leading tourism markets.
Thanks to this integration, travelers will have access to one of the most comprehensive activity offerings on the international market. Both companies will work together on the technological and commercial development of the partnership to provide a smoother and increasingly integrated experience throughout the entire journey.
