SiteMinder, the world’s leading hotel distribution and revenue platform, has announced the launch of a new global webinar series: ‘Risk, Resilience & Revenue – Navigating Hotel Demand in 2025’, running throughout June. The series will bring together industry leaders to provide hoteliers with practical, data-driven strategies for maximizing revenue at a time of geopolitical and economic uncertainty.
The announcement comes as SiteMinder’s data reveals hotels globally are experiencing a 1.17% decline in bookings for the mid-year period (June-August) compared to last year. Across Southeast Asia and neighbouring Taiwan, booking activity has dropped by 2.35% – with Thailand experiencing a steeper drop of 4.72% – driven in part by a 3.16% year-on-year decrease in US bookings to the region.
Average daily rates (ADR) for Thai properties have fallen to US$193.35 for the June-August period – which coincides with the country’s wet season – down 2.32% from US$197.95 last year. In Bangkok, the drop is even more pronounced, with hotel room rates falling 6.79% from US$113.31 in 2024 to US$105.62 this year. Malaysia is the only country in the region to record a year-on-year increase, rising 8.28% to US$192.44.
Bradley Haines, market vice president of Asia Pacific at SiteMinder, says: “While uncertainties in the current travel landscape certainly bring challenges, they also open up real opportunities for the hotels ready to adapt. That’s exactly why we launched ‘Risk, Resilience & Revenue’ – to bring together industry leaders from across the globe to share strategies shaping success in their markets right now. By combining their perspectives with comprehensive market insights, we’re helping hotels in Southeast Asia and Taiwan identify and act on emerging trends, tap into new source markets and navigate today’s complexities. It’s about providing hoteliers the clarity and confidence to turn disruption into momentum.”
SiteMinder’s data also reveals resilience in Thailand’s hotel sector: the average length of stay at local properties between June and August has increased by 6.13% to reach three days – the longest duration for hotel stays in Southeast Asia, and higher than the regional average of 2.35 days, including Taiwan. Furthermore, the country recorded an average lead time of 80.76 days for mid-year bookings made in April, surpassing the regional average of 79.80 days.
The joint Southeast Asia and Taiwan session of SiteMinder’s international webinar series will take place on the 12th of June at 3pm GMT+8, with the participation of Tander Lowongan, Regional Sales Manager at SiteMinder in Indonesia; Kanpana Sarapat, Strategic Account Director at SiteMinder in Thailand; and Thienprasit Chaiyapatranun, President of Thai Hotels Association.
