A group of Australian travel agents had the great opportunity to visit Australia’s closest neighbour, New Caledonia, this week. As the destination is now back in full swing, New Caledonia Tourism was thrilled to invite the group back to its beautiful archipelago so they could rediscover all that the destination has to offer and find out about new openings and products.
The group was hosted in various locations in the destination, starting off in the wild west of New Caledonia, Bourail, with a stay at the lush resort, Sheraton New Caledonia Deva Spa & Golf Resort and a welcome dinner at the hotel’s restaurant located on the beach. The following day included a visit to Poé Beach, a glass-bottom boat lagoon tour, and a visit to the Boulouparis Distillery before returning to Noumea for an overnight stay at Le Méridien Noumea Resort & Spa.
While in the capital, the group had the opportunity to explore two of the islands just off the coast, Amédée Island and Master Island, including a site visit of the only overwater bungalow resort in the destination, DoubleTree by Hilton Maître Island Resort. For the adventurous, a jet ski ride around the small island delivered an adrenaline rush, while others preferred a relaxing afternoon soaking up the sun on the beach. The final night was spent at the recently renovated Hilton Noumea La Promenade Residences, with a goodbye dinner at the popular Marmite et Tire-Bouchon, known for its fusion of French cuisine and New Caledonian flavours.
Accompanying the group was the Australian representative, Rebecca Marchal, who was thrilled to once again showcase this gorgeous destination to the industry, saying, “Travel agents play a crucial role in reassuring travellers that it’s once again safe to visit New Caledonia and to rediscover the unique charm of the destination. We’re excited to welcome the travel industry back and for them to experience all the new developments and openings, which are clear signs of the destination’s readiness and enthusiasm to reengage with the world.”

New Caledonia is Australia’s next-door neighbour (less than 3 hours from Sydney and 2 hours from Brisbane). An amazing archipelago and holiday destination thanks to its combination of unique Melanesian culture, exotic South Pacific charm, and cosmopolitan French chic. Surrounded by the largest lagoon in the world that has been registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, New Caledonia is famous for its variety of landscapes, cultures, activities, and unique biodiversity.
