Tom Cover - ShootThe Katherine Outback Experience (KOE) has captured national attention with its double victory at the prestigious Brolga Northern Territory (NT) Tourism Awards. KOE, a unique tourist attraction operated by Golden Guitar-winning musician and skilled horse trainer Tom Curtain alongside his wife Annabel, clinched the highly coveted Tourist Attraction award for the sixth year running and was honoured with the Chairman’s Award for the second time.

Known for their immersive, authentic outback experiences, Tom and Annabel Curtain have created a must-see attraction in Katherine that offers real-time horse training sessions, working dog demonstrations, and live music, all set against the rugged beauty of the Australian outback. The impressive accolades from the NT Tourism Awards underscore KOE’s dedication to bringing the heart of the outback alive for visitors, showcasing Australia’s rural culture in a way that is both educational and entertaining.

Since 1986, the Brolga Awards have served as the hallmark of excellence in the NT’s tourism industry, honouring businesses that demonstrate innovation, outstanding service, and a commitment to enriching visitor experiences. By securing a win in the Tourist Attraction category again, KOE has guaranteed its place at the National Tourism Awards in Adelaide next March, where it will stand among Australia’s best. Last year, KOE achieved gold at the national level, a remarkable achievement compared to other major industry players.

“We’re absolutely thrilled by these honors,” said Tom Curtain. “This recognition celebrates our team’s hard work and passion, and it reinforces our mission to share a genuine outback experience with audiences from all over Australia and beyond.”

KOE’s tour schedule also reflects its growth and commitment to expanding its reach. As the hotter months arrive, the team has embarked on its ninth national tour, “The Good Life Tour,” featuring over 60 scheduled performances across Australia. This outback adventure blends Tom’s live music with KOE’s unique demonstrations, giving audiences nationwide a taste of the Katherine outback. Tom Curtain is performing in Victoria, bringing the show’s authentic outback flavour to audiences on the road.

The Katherine Outback Experience continues to elevate Northern Territory tourism. It proves that family-operated ventures can compete and thrive locally and nationally, reinforcing Australia’s outback culture and community spirit.
