For a hotel that has won more awards than most, the team at Paradise Resort Gold Coast were even more celebratory than usual after taking out the Champion of Accessibility Award in the Gold Coast Business Excellence Awards.
The latest award came just after the resort was named Best Family Resort in Australia for the 15th time in succession by Out & About with Kids magazine and as runner-up for Best Family Accommodation in the Australian Traveller Awards.
And the hotel was a finalist in two other categories of Gold Coast Business Excellence Awards: Tourism Hospitality & Events and the Ian Cousins Citizenship & Community Award.
But the Champion of Accessibility Award was a first for Paradise Resort and considered special by General Manager, David Brook.

“At Paradise Resort Gold Coast, accessibility is more than a service, it is a core value,” he said.
“Being named Australia’s best family resort for the 15th time in a row is an incredible honour that we don’t take for granted, but being accessible to all kids and their families is integral to our philosophy and that of the resort’s owner, Dr Jerry Schwartz.
“We believe every guest and team member, regardless of ability, should be able to fully engage with our products, services and spaces and enjoy the magic of the resort without barriers.
“From a practical point of view that is reflected in the investment in facilities and infrastructure to ensure our spaces are physically accessible to everyone. This means accessible rooms, toilets, ramps, parking and a range of other measures to ensure smooth movement throughout the property.
“And our accessibility commitment goes much further than design features. Our Kids Club is rightfully considered one of the best in Australia and parents can record dietary or additional needs in advance when booking sessions for their children. One-on-one care is available on request to ensure every child feels safe and engaged and a daily quiet session creates a calm, soothing atmosphere for children who may need sensory breaks.
“Accessibility is not only about physical infrastructure; it is also about attitude and understanding. Our team members receive regular training on how to assist guests with disabilities, respond to unique needs with patience and compassion, and ensure everyone feels respected. This includes neurodiversity awareness, cultural sensitivity sessions, and hands-on practice with assistive tools and communication aids.
“This ongoing commitment ensures that every guest can fully experience the resorts award-winning hospitality and every employee can thrive in an environment of respect and inclusion. It is this unwavering dedication to accessibility and inclusivity that positions Paradise Resort as a true Champion of Accessibility on the Gold Coast.”
