Ghanem Group Hospitality’s transformation of the iconic Fox Hotel is coming to life, with the revival of its original heritage name – Hotel Terminus – and a multi-level dining, events and entertainment precinct starting to unfold that honours its storied past while shaping the next era of a beloved Brisbane pub.
The decision to restore the original identity and name, and the naming of the upper levels – Vixen Room, a late-night music lounge and cocktail bar, and the Fox Rooftop – follows a community vote and reflects the Group’s vision to seamlessly blend heritage with modern design and dining experiences.
With work underway since April 2025, Hotel Terminus is expected to reopen mid-2026 – its original façade restored and offering a journey of dining, events and entertainment across four levels, where guests can choose their own adventure.
The ground floor is all about the restored public long bar, a new Fish Lane entrance, and 18-metre-high atrium. A bistro with a gastropub edge will serve elevated classics in a relaxed setting, and a gaming lounge, plus bottle shop will round out the precinct’s warm and approachable welcome.
The first floor is designed for conviviality: group gatherings, special occasions and celebrations inspired by the venue’s party-filled past, with two impressive event spaces and a private dining room that will span the entire floor.
The top two levels introduce the Vixen Room – an opulent late-night venue featuring craft cocktails and a snack menu, to be enjoyed alongside DJs, live music and entertainment. From here guests can access the Fox Rooftop – a nod to the hotel’s most recent name – which will commandeer the hotel’s entire roof space, offering expansive views of Brisbane’s CBD and cultural precinct. Guests can linger here over long afternoons and balmy evenings, before slipping downstairs to the Vixen Room for late-night drinks.
Ghanem Group Hospitality Director Adonis Ghanem described the project as a harmonious blend of legacy, location and contemporary hospitality vision.
“We’re bringing Hotel Terminus back to South Brisbane as both a celebration of its remarkable history and a re-energised next chapter in its evolution,” Mr Ghanem said.
“We were very interested to hear the public’s suggestions on what to name the building. Most votes were to restore the original name, Hotel Terminus. However, we couldn’t ignore the goodwill associated with The Fox, which received the second most votes. Vixen came in third, which complements the connection and feel between the cocktail music bar and the Fox Rooftop on the upper two levels.”
