World Expeditions, pioneer of responsible adventure travel since 1975, has announced the launch of its new Horse Trek Series, offering immersive horseback journeys through some of the world’s most remote and culturally rich regions.
The new collection introduces six itineraries across Argentina, Chile, Dolpo and Mustang in Nepal, Kyrgyzstan and Mongolia – destinations where longstanding equestrian traditions continue to shape both landscapes and communities.
Designed for travellers seeking deeper, slower journeys through rugged wilderness and living cultures, the horse-trekking program expands access to remote regions for a wider range of adventurers. While trekking remains synonymous with World Expeditions, horse-based travel offers an alternative for those who may not wish to take on a multi-day walk; whether experienced riders or complete beginners, participants can engage with these environments at a measured pace that is immersive, reflective and highly accessible.
“The idea didn’t come from a boardroom – it came from the trail,” says Sue Badyari, CEO of World Expeditions. “Over the years, we’ve seen the profound connection travellers experience when riding alongside herders on the Mongolian steppe or navigating the Himalayan valleys of Mustang by horse. These journeys offered something deeper than scenery; they’re a gateway into a culture shaped by the rhythm of hoofbeats and a way of life guided by generations in the saddle.”
“Horse culture runs deep in each of these countries,” continues Sue. “From the nomadic herders of Mongolia to the yak caravans of Mustang and the rugged gauchos of Patagonia, horses remain essential companions in these regions. This new series honours that legacy while offering travellers a meaningful way to connect with nature and community.”

The launch of the Horse Trek Series reaffirms World Expeditions’ leadership in ethical animal tourism, with all trips developed in line with the company’s strict animal welfare guidelines, as well as Leave No Trace principles.
“We welcome World Expeditions’ ongoing commitment to ensuring that their travel offerings are animal friendly, including animal-assisted adventures,” says Ben Pearson, Country Director, World Animal Protection Australia. “Their leadership over many years has helped lift standards across the entire travel industry.”
