Austrian Airlines’ new summer schedule will make explorers’ hearts beat faster: seven new short- and medium-haul destinations offer inspiration for discovering something new in the summer months of 2026. Two new destinations on the Spanish mainland, as well as new routes to the Azores, Corsica, Greece, North Macedonia and Norway, will complement the airline’s well-established summer portfolio.
In total, Austrian Airlines will operate 113 short- and medium-haul destinations and 20 long-haul destinations from Vienna in the 2026 summer schedule – resulting in 133 destinations overall (2025: 127). The 2026 summer schedule will be in effect from 29 March to 24 October 2026.
New destinations with plenty of potential
- Ponta Delgada (PDL), São Miguel / Azores
Perfect for lovers of wild volcanic landscapes and the rugged beauty of the Atlantic. The Portuguese island group captivates active travellers with its magical scenery and is often referred to as the “Hawaii of Europe.” Austrian Airlines will operate one weekly flight every Tuesday from late June to early September, with a flight time of approximately 5 hours and 40 minutes.
- Alicante (ALC) & Bilbao (BIO), Spain
The Spanish mainland shows off its diversity with two new destinations:Alicante on the Costa Blanca combines lively city life with beautifully maintained beaches and world-class cuisine – plus over 300 days of sunshine per year. Flights from Vienna operate Wednesdays and Sundays (2h50).Bilbao, the cultural hotspot of the Basque Country, delights travellers with its distinctive mix of historic charm, modern architecture, and art – framed by scenic beaches and green hinterlands. Flights from Vienna: Wednesdays and Sundays (2h40).
- Bastia (BIA), Corsica
Wildly romantic island flair and authentic Mediterranean charm await travellers to Bastia in northern Corsica. Flights from Vienna will operate twice weekly, on Tuesdays and Saturdays, from early June to late September.
- Ohrid (OHD), North Macedonia
A hidden gem of the Balkans – famous for its ancient lake, historic sites, scenic hiking trails, and warm hospitality. Austrian Airlines will connect Vienna and Ohrid twice weekly, on Wednesdays and Sundays, from mid-May to late October. Flight time: 1 hour 45 minutes.
- Mytilene (MJT), Lesbos, Greece
Long sandy beaches, olive groves, and natural hot springs shape the landscape of Greece’ third-largest island. Perfect for slow travel and authentic discovery. Flights from Vienna: Mondays, from mid-June to late September, 2 hours 30 minutes.
- Bergen (BGO), Norway
A northern highlight and a gateway to Norway’s stunning fjords. Flights from Vienna to Bergen will operate three times per week from early June to mid-September (flight time: 2 hours 35 minutes). The city impresses with its rich maritime history and countless outdoor experiences amid breathtaking landscapes.

Strengthened network and additional capacity
With the launch of new destinations and increased frequencies in summer 2026 – including five additional weekly flights to Barcelona, three to Málaga, and one each to Funchal and Tenerife – Austrian Airlines is also responding to the announced market withdrawal of low-cost carriers (Wizz Air and Ryanair).
To ensure stability and sufficient capacity, Austrian Airlines has secured two additional aircraft from its long-standing wet-lease partner airBaltic in time for the summer 2026 schedule.

Mediterranean focus: Greece and Spain lead the way
As every year, Austrian Airlines is once again focusing on travellers’ all-time favourites:
- Greece: 21 destinations across large and small islands
- Spain: 11 destinations including mainland routes, the Balearic and Canary Islands
- Italy: 14 destinations, including Milan Linate, located conveniently close to the city centre, now also served in the 2026 summer schedule following its winter debut
“Coolcation” trend continues
The growing popularity of northern “coolcation” destinations will be reflected in increased frequencies. With Bergen joining the network, Austrian Airlines will serve 13 weekly flights to Norway (up from nine in 2025), including Oslo, Tromsø, the Lofoten Islands, and now Bergen.
Scotland’s Edinburgh and Germany’s Sylt have also proven to be great successes and will again be part of the 2026 summer schedule.
Long-haul highlights: Asia and North America
On intercontinental routes, Austrian Airlines continues its successful and proven network.
Travellers seeking long-haul adventures can choose from 20 destinations directly served by Austrian Airlines, operated by the Airbus A320 family and long-haul aircraft types Boeing 767, 777 and 787.
The 2026 summer long-haul portfolio includes:
- Africa: Cairo (year-round), Mauritius and Marrakech (seasonal)
- Asia: Bangkok, Tokyo, Shanghai (year-round), Malé (seasonal)
- North America: Boston, New York (JFK and Newark), Washington, Chicago, Los Angeles, and Montreal (Canada)
