As the title sponsor and co-organiser of the “SJM Macao Open 2025”, SJM Resorts, S.A. (“SJM”) proudly supports the Macao SAR Government’s vision of developing the city into a “City of Sports.” On 16 and 17 October, SJM hosted the “School Golf Discovery Day” and “Golf Clinic” at the Macau Golf and Country Club. With inspiration and guidance from professional golfers, these activities allowed students to experience golf and deepen their appreciation for the sport, enhancing their engagement in Macau’s vibrant sports scene. Over the two days, approximately 100 primary and secondary students from various local schools participated in the events.

The “School Golf Discovery Day” on 16 October featured distinguished players, including Chan Shih-Chang from Chinese Taipei, a five-time Asian Tour champion and seasoned professional with 20 wins across Asia, and Ding Wenyi, the first Chinese winner of the U.S. Junior Amateur Championship in 2022, who turned professional just last year. The “Golf Clinic” on 17 October included Hong Kong, China representative Matthew Cheung, a bronze medallist in the men’s team event at the 2023 Asian Games, alongside Thailand’s Pavit Tangkamolprasert, the Macao Open 2016 champion, and U.S. player Berry Henson, who placed second in the International Series Oman in 2023 and has been a professional golfer since 2003. With elite golfers from different regions sharing their insights and demonstrating their skills, the two sessions not only promoted athletic exchange but also fostered cultural understanding through the shared enjoyment of sport.

During the activities, the golfers demonstrated accurate shots and fluid swings, earning enthusiastic applause, while students actively engaged with them by asking questions that were met with humour and thoughtful replies, creating a lively and interactive atmosphere. Guided by the professionals, students enjoyed hands-on practice, from putting to chipping, gradually mastering the techniques and rhythm of the game. Participants remarked that the experience sparked their interest in golf and helped them realise that success demands the right mindset, self-discipline, and perseverance.

SJM presented each student with “SJM Macao Open 2025” souvenirs, including a tote bag, fan and hat, to encourage continued participation in sports and healthy living. Students eagerly collected autographs and took photos with the golfers, capturing joyful memories of the day. They also explored interactive games in Fan Village, celebrating the sport’s rich culture and Macau’s dynamic spirit as a “City of Sports”.

SJM remains committed to advancing the diverse development of sports in Macau. In addition to introducing world-class international tournaments, SJM places a strong emphasis on community engagement and youth development. Through educational and experiential programmes, SJM encourages the public to embrace healthy living through sport, fostering a positive and harmonious social environment.
