LATAM Airlines Group has announced the appointment of Alberto Chico García as the company’s new Country Manager for Oceania, effective today. In this role, Chico García will oversee LATAM’s commercial and operational strategy across the Oceania region, including Australia and New Zealand, strengthening the airline’s presence and partnerships in these key markets. His appointment reflects LATAM’s investment in the region as the airline expands services and deepens its engagement with partners, stakeholders, and customers.

With more than 12 years of experience in commercial roles across the travel and tourism industry, Chico García brings a wealth of expertise in profit & loss management, revenue growth, strategic negotiations and market development. Prior to joining LATAM, Chico García served as Vertical Head, Commercial Partnerships for KAYAK in Asia Pacific, where he led the Hotels and Cars business across the region. He previously spent eight years with Amadeus in Asia Pacific as Commercial Strategy Manager and earlier held roles in Revenue Management and Commercial Finance. Chico García’s background combines deep B2B experience with proven leadership in competitive markets, making him well-positioned to guide LATAM’s growth in Oceania.

“We are delighted to appoint Alberto as our new Country Manager for Oceania. His strong expertise in commercial strategy, partnerships, and customer-focused growth will be instrumental as we continue to strengthen operations in the region,” said Thibaud Morand, General Manager EMEA, Asia and South Pacific at LATAM Airlines.

Chico García’s appointment comes at a pivotal time for LATAM. Following the resumption of Sydney–Santiago services in October 2024, LATAM will increase to daily non-stop flights from Sydney in November 2025, and expand its Melbourne–Santiago service to daily flights from December 2025. Together with the airline’s direct services from Auckland-Santiago, LATAM offers travellers from across Oceania more flexibility and connectivity to Latin America than ever before.

“I’m honoured to take on this role at such an exciting moment for LATAM,” Chico García commented about the appointment. “With our upcoming daily services from both Sydney and Melbourne, we are better placed than ever to connect travellers in Oceania with Latin America. My focus will be on continuing to build strong partnerships, delivering value to our customers and ensuring LATAM is the airline of choice for travellers across the region.”
