Intrepid Travel has just wrapped up its annual global Mega Famils, welcoming 60 top-selling agents from Flight Centre Travel Group (FCTG) to Sri Lanka for a week of immersive travel experiences, leadership connection, and celebration.
The Mega Famil brought together agents from across the globe, including seven from New Zealand, and two each from North America, the UK, and South Africa, for six concurrent Intrepid trips across Sri Lanka. Europ Assistance also joined the experience, hosting 10 of the 60 spots as part of their own incentive program and supporting the welcome night celebrations.
Across six itineraries, agents explored Sri Lanka’s diverse landscapes, from lush tea plantations to the ancient ruins of Sigiriya, and the country’s renowned wildlife. Each trip was designed to showcase Intrepid’s signature style of sustainable, locally-led travel.

The trips culminated in a three-day event at Jetwing Lake in Dambulla, where agents were joined by Intrepid’s leadership team including ANZ Managing Director Brett Mitchell, ANZ General Manager Yvette Thompson and Head of ANZ Partnerships Megan Lowe, and FCTG’s leadership, including Flight Centre Brands Global MD Andrew Stark, Travel Associates GM Rachel Kingswell, Envoyage Global Head of Product, Jodie Bernard for a series of high-energy events.
“We chose Sri Lanka for two key reasons,” said Yvette Thompson, Intrepid Travel ANZ General Manager. “It’s a destination that’s still emerging for many travellers, and we wanted to showcase the incredible depth of experience our local DMC can deliver. From logistics to cultural immersion, our team on the ground absolutely nailed it.”
In 2024, Intrepid welcomed over 4,000 travellers to Sri Lanka, a 206 per cent increase from 2023, surpassing pre-pandemic levels. The company aims to welcome over 15,000 travellers to Sri Lanka by 2030.
