The Whyte is thrilled to announce a special opening weekend performance by acclaimed Indigenous singer-songwriter Logan Staats in celebration of the opening of The Ancestors Are Talking: Paintings by the Indigenous Seven — a major summer exhibition honouring the legacy of the Indigenous Group of Seven on view May 3 to October 19, 2025.
Join us on Sunday, May 4 for an unforgettable evening of music, art, and storytelling in the heart of the Canadian Rockies.
Logan Staats — a compelling voice in Canada’s music scene and a proud member of Six Nations of the Grand River — brings his raw, emotionally charged sound to Banff for this special onenight-only event. Blending folk, rock, roots, and Americana, Staats commands the stage with intensity and soul, inviting audiences into stories of resilience, identity, and spirit.
With performances alongside legends like Eric Clapton, Mavis
Staples, and Van Morrison, as well as standout appearances at Massey Hall, the Juno Awards, and Life is a Carnival at the L.A. Kia Forum, Staats continues to push creative and cultural boundaries. His music is a living testament to the power of Indigenous storytelling through song.
Visitors are invited to arrive early to experience the exhibition before the performance, exploring rarely seen art work by Jackson Beardy, Eddy Cobiness, Alex Janvier, Norval Morrisseau, Daphne Odjig, Carl Ray, and Joseph M. Sánchez.
