Civitatis, the leading platform for Spanish-speaking travelers to book tours and activities worldwide, announces the appointment of Andres Spitzer as its new Chief Product Officer (CPO). Bringing extensive experience in product and engineering leadership, Spitzer will focus on enhancing scalability, expanding B2B and B2C growth, and improving customer experiences.
This appointment is part of Civitatis’ ambitious growth strategy, following Vitruvian Partners’ USD 50 million investment announced in June to fuel expansion and the company’s 40% sales growth target for 2025, revealed at FITUR—both reinforcing its leadership in Spanish-speaking travel markets.
Spitzer joins Civitatis from Amazon, where he served as Head of Product & Engineering at Amazon Business, leading product managers and overseeing strategic product development. Prior to Amazon, he was an entrepreneur, founding a software company in 2001 and co-founding Bluemove, a car-sharing startup later acquired by Europcar in 2012.
His appointment comes at a pivotal moment for Civitatis, which is in a scale-up phase marked by rapid growth, increasing market reach, and a focus on operational scalability. Leveraging his expertise in both corporate and startup environments, Spitzer will drive the company’s vision and strategy while strengthening its technological and product capabilities.
Under Spitzer’s leadership, Civitatis will further develop its B2B ecosystem, focusing on strengthening its partnerships with travel agencies, hotels, affiliates, OTAs, and resellers. Enhancing distribution channels—such as APIs, agency panels, and direct integrations—will be a key focus to streamline connectivity and operational efficiency.
“We are thrilled to welcome Andres to Civitatis. His leadership in product and engineering, combined with his entrepreneurial background, makes him the perfect fit to continue our growth trajectory,” said Alberto Gutiérrez, CEO of Civitatis. “His experience in scaling complex and fragmented sectors will be instrumental in refining our B2B and B2C offerings, expanding our global footprint, and enhancing our partners’ and customers’ experiences.”
“The activities sector is inherently complex and fragmented, with each product having unique operational challenges,” said Andres Spitzer. “At Civitatis, we aim to simplify this complexity through scalable technology, ensuring seamless experiences for both B2C customers and B2B partners. I look forward to contributing to Civitatis’ next stage of growth and innovation.”
With Latin America as a strategic priority, Civitatis will continue expanding its presence in the region across both B2C and B2B segments. The company aims to enhance its service for wholesalers, improve connectivity processes, and provide an even more comprehensive offering for travelers and industry partners alike.
This leadership change reinforces Civitatis’ commitment to driving innovation, optimizing distribution, and setting new industry standards in the tours and activities sector.
