The Guam Visitors Bureau is pleased to announce the successful completion of the Guam Wedding Campaign, a recent Instagram contest in Japan where couples shared their photos or videos of their Guam weddings for a chance to win a round trip ticket to Guam for two or a three-day hotel stay.  The campaign ran from December 1, 2024 to January 15, 2025, concluding with four winners from Japan.  The campaign welcomed not only newlyweds, but also family members, friends or other guests who attended the weddings in Guam.

Guam Aims to Revitalize Wedding Tourism 1

The Wedding Campaign was GVB’s Japan Marketing Committee’s 2nd quarter promotion that focuses on niche markets.  In the 1st quarter of this year, a Golf Campaign was promoted.  Both campaigns have been positively received by Japan travel & trade partners.

“The wedding market is one component of the Special Interest Tours (SIT) that GVB is redeveloping to promote tourism from source countries such as Japan and Korea.  Guam really is a beautiful place for weddings, honeymoons, and babymoons, so we want to reestablish ourselves as that special destination and encourage group travel,” explains Dr. Gerry Perez, GVB Acting President & CEO.

In conjunction with this effort, Arluis Wedding Guam announced the renewal opening of the Jewel by the Sea Chapel located at the Hyatt Regency Guam.  A grand reopening event was held on the morning of Tuesday, February 11, 2025 with over 45 guests, including travel industry professionals, media representatives, and influencers, who had the opportunity to experience the renewed charm of Jewel by the Sea through a mock wedding ceremony and guided chapel tour.  Attendees highly praised the thoughtfully designed interiors and the open, airy ambiance.

The reopening of the Jewel by the Sea chapel is a milestone event, signifying the revitalization of Guam’s wedding industry, which has been relatively dormant since the pandemic.  Visiting and resident couples can once again avail of Guam’s beautiful panoramic ocean views as a setting for their special unions.  Arluis Wedding Guam, a major wedding company offering island wedding packages for Japan, Korea, and local couples for over 18 YEARS, has reaffirmed their commitment to the resort wedding experience in Guam with the Jewel’s reopening.

“As the General Manager of our wedding company, I am thrilled to continue promoting Guam as a premier wedding destination. The newly renovated wedding chapel is a fantastic addition to the island, designed to attract both couples and family travelers,” stated Arluis General Manager Yoshiki Sato. We are very pleased with the wedding campaign, which is a successful collaboration with the Guam Visitors Bureau, and it perfectly aligns with our goal of creating unforgettable experiences for every couple and their loved ones. We are excited about the FY25 wedding campaign partnership with GVB and look forward to even greater success in the future,” Sato said.
