Marriott International Inc. was proud to be awarded 9 wins and 15 Highly Commended awards at the highly competitive HM Awards Australasia held in Sydney on Friday 29 November 2024 – alongside 10 award wins and 5 Highly Commended at the Aotearoa-Pacific awards on 1st November in Auckland, acknowledging the best of the best in the hospitality industry across Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific.
Marriott took home major awards at the HM Awards Australasia including Asia Pacific Hotelier of the Year, Rajeev Menon, and Fijian General Manager of the year, Silvano Dressino.
Among the Hotel accolades, W Sydney were winners in three categories: Hotel Interior Design, New Hotel, along with Concierge – Emma Trinidad. W Hotels also received Highly Commended for Hotel Brand of the Year.
The Tasman, Hobart, A Luxury Collection Hotel, won Boutique Hotel and Regional Property, with Highly Commended for Hotel Restaurant – Peppina, and Luxury Hotel categories, plus was Highly Commended for the hotly contested Australian Hotel of the year award.
Marriott Bonvoy, Marriott’s award-winning travel and loyalty program of 219 million members globally, cemented its reputation for connecting travellers to incredible experiences through partnerships with some of Australia’s most well-loved events as Marriott Bonvoy’s 2024 partnership with the Australian Open, awarded joint winner of the Marketing Campaign category.
Recent opening, Adelaide Marriott Hotel, which opened its doors in August and marked the brand introduction to South Australia, scored a highly commended in New Hotel category, and Moxy Sydney Airport which opened in late 2023 received Highly Commended awards across two categories – Tech Hotel and Midscale Hotel.
Brisbane Marriott Hotel was awarded Business Hotel of the year, and Fiji Marriott Resort Momi Bay achieved Highly Commended for major award – Fijian Hotel of the year.
The Ritz-Carlton, Melbourne received Highly Commended for Day Spa and Hotel Bar – Cameo.
The Midnight Hotel, Canberra was Highly commended for Upscale Hotel, while Sheraton Grand Port Douglas received Highly Commended for best Resort.
At the Auckland awards ceremony, The Churchill at Four Points by Sheraton Auckland won Hotel Bar and Fiji Marriott Resort Momi Bay won the Fijian Upscale Resort award. Marriott associates were highly successful, acknowledged with award wins for Concierge, Food & Beverage Associate, Sales Associate, Marketing and Communications Associate, Finance Associate, Revenue Management Associate, Hotel Engineer and Rising Star.
The successful achievements mark the conclusion of a strong year for the hotel company, which has expanded its footprint to 46 operating Hotels and Resorts in Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific, opening three diverse new properties in 2024.
