The Dallas travel and tourism sector is reaching unprecedented heights, cementing its role as a cornerstone of the city’s economic vitality. According to the 2023 Dallas Tourism Economics Impact Report, compiled by Visit Dallas and Tourism Economics, the industry achieved an astounding $10.5 billion in total economic impact last year, fueled by a sharp rise in visitor spending and job creation.
The report highlights the city’s tourism as one of its top ten industries, supporting over 59,000 jobs—accounting for 6% of Dallas’ workforce—and generating $3.1 billion in income. Visitor spending alone contributed $626 million in state and local tax revenues, translating to an average tax savings of $1,203 per household in Dallas.

A New Era of Opportunity: Dallas Tourism’s Future
Beyond its current achievements, Dallas is entering a transformative phase that promises even greater economic rewards. The Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center Dallas Master Plan, along with airport enhancements, upcoming FIFA World Cup 2026 events, and an expansion in hotel developments, will further amplify the city’s tourism impact.
Visit Dallas has secured 59 future conventions tied to the expanded convention centre, forecasted to generate $1.56 billion in economic impact post-2029. In 2023 alone, the organization worked with local stakeholders to book over 2.4 million room nights, resulting in more than $2 billion in economic benefits.
“While these numbers are impressive, they are merely the beginning,” Davis added. “Dallas is poised for extraordinary growth in its tourism sector, benefiting both our economy and residents alike.”
A Bright Forecast: Continued Growth Through 2025
The future remains promising for Dallas tourism, with visitor volume and spending projected to rise steadily. By 2025, direct visitor spending is expected to grow by 4% annually, reaching an estimated $7.1 billion.
As Dallas builds on its reputation as a must-visit destination for leisure and business travellers, its tourism sector is set to play an even more significant role in shaping the city’s economic and cultural identity.
