Spread the love

For 60 years, Sofitel has built cultural bridges and introduced the spirit of French zest and fine gastronomy to guests all around the world. Now, to celebrate its Diamond Jubilee, Sofitel prepares to welcome another legend of French art de vivre to the cultural heart and soul of Vietnam. La Tour d’Argent, the historic 400-year-old Parisian dining establishment, will fly into Hanoi for the first time in its history to stage a unique culinary takeover at Le Beaulieu, the acclaimed French restaurant at Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi which dates from 1901 and was recently selected by the Michelin Guide. This exclusive collaboration reflects Sofitel’s timeless DNA: a desire to empower encounters between cultures, people and ideas.

Connecting Cultures Across Continents

A national landmark that has stood on the banks of the River Seine since 1582, La Tour d’Argent (“The Silver Tower”) is a pillar of French gastronomic heritage. Helmed by Executive Chef Yannick Franques, France’s Meilleurs Ouvriers de France 2004, it has been awarded a Michelin star for its classic yet contemporary style of French cuisine, while its extraordinary wine cellar houses over 300,000 of the finest vintages. An icon of French sophistication, this restaurant is the perfect match for Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi, Southeast Asia’s first and only Sofitel Legend hotel, which brings the essence of fine French hospitality to Vietnam’s capital city. The hotel’s Executive Chef Charles Degrendele even trained at La Tour d’Argent, further underscoring the cultural connections between these two like-minded icons.

An Immersive Week of Gastronomic Excellence

La Tour d’Argent has been delighting diners in Paris since 1582, as its highly skilled chefs prepare Michelin-rated cuisine

From Wednesday, October 23 to Sunday, October 27, 2024, La Tour d’Argent will bring its timeless standards of epicurean elegance and excellence to Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi in a five-day takeover of Le Beaulieu. In the wake of La Tour en Balade, a tour of France’s finest restaurants and addresses launched in 2022 to coincide with the restaurant’s biggest-ever renovation, Chef Yannick and Restaurant Director Stéphane Trapier will embark on a “Gastronomic Week” that presents the finest French cuisine and showcases Sofitel’s spirit of hospitality.

The brainchild of André Terrail, current owner of La Tour d’Argent, this collaboration aims to transport the art of entertaining at one of the world’s best-known restaurants to the heart of an historic hotel that radiates grace, heritage and refinement. The expert culinary team will craft a five-course lunch menu and an eight-course dinner in Hanoi for the first time. From the cutting of duck on the fly to the flambéing of Mademoiselle crêpes, this immersive experience will transport French savoir-faire and the art of gastronomy almost 10,000km from the centre of Paris to the heart of Vietnam’s vibrant capital city. One highlight will be “Caneton Frédéric Delair”, a signature dish that pays tribute to Charlie Chaplin, who spent his honeymoon at Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi in 1936. The hotel also now has a suite that bears his name.

Celebrating French Zest Around the World

“We are particularly pleased with this collaboration with Sofitel, the world’s only French luxury hotel brand and ambassador of ‘savoir recevoir’ throughout the world. With our rich history and that of Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi, it’s easy to bring this unique experience to life, nourished by this encounter and supported by the expertise of our teams. The beauty and refinement of the setting particularly appealed to us, and echoed that of our Parisian home. It’s a promise for customers to live a unique and grandiose experience,” said André Terrail, owner of La Tour d’Argent.
