Further to actively supporting the SAR government’s efforts in economic diversification and turning Macau into a “City of Performing Arts”, Melco Resorts & Entertainment continues to support local artistic and youth talent development in the community. On May 14, Melco presented the “Macao Orchestra Meet the Musicians” event at Studio City, inviting members of the community to meet with key musicians from Macao Orchestra, including Mr. Tony Cheng-Te Yeh, Assistant Conductor; Ms. Li Na, Principal Second Violin; Ms. Zhou Chen, Second Violin; Mr. Xiao Fan, Principal Viola; and Mr. Vincent Lu Jia, Principal Cello.

Students, professors, teachers and beneficiaries of the University of Macau; Macau University of Science and Technology; Macao Polytechnic University; Macao Conservatory; St. Pius X and the Music Academy; Macau Autism Association, many of whom are themselves budding musicians, joined the special event to learn from the Macao Orchestra members who shared their inspiration, experiences and expertise with the audience. Melco volunteers and their children also invited to join the event.

Mr. Clarence Chung, Melco Board Director, said, “We are glad to host this event as part of our efforts to contribute to Macau’s status of becoming an international hub for performing arts, while continuing our support for the development of young local talent in the arts for the city’s sustainable growth.”

Ms. Chan Sio Man, Life Honorary President and Consultant of Macau Autism Association, said, “Music is an alternative language that helps enlighten and inspire children with autism. I am honored to be invited by Melco to participate in this musical exchange event. The youth in the audience were really focused and enjoyed the wonderful performances of the masters. We hope that these young people will continue developing in their musical journeys. Melco has always been strongly supportive in the development of talent and youth in the local community. Our association is honored and looks forward to further collaborations with both Melco and other organizations in the future.”

The outreach event follows Melco’s Violin Prodigy Christian Li concert and subsequent special performance and meet-up event which took place last month. The series was hosted with the aim of supporting Macau’s diversification efforts, and for the city to become a renowned performing arts destination. The events also form part of Melco’s long-term talent development initiatives which strive to provide inspiring opportunities to local youth by offering them exposure to world-class maestros in the fields of the arts and innovation.
