For over 135 years, The Overland has been transporting guests between Adelaide and Melbourne and back again, connecting the two cities and regional towns in between. Due to an increased demand for considered travel that’s as much about the journey as it is the destination, Journey Beyond is delighted to announce the early release of The Overland’s 2025 schedule, which is now available to book.
In addition to the early release of The Overland’s 2025 season, a new pricing structure is available with extended fare types. As a result, guests can now enjoy more flexibility on the twice weekly daylight service:
– Flexible: Journey Price is fully refundable at least 24 hours before departure
– Everyday: Guest amendments allowed up to 24 hours before departure
– Ready Rail: Amendment not permitted
– Red Pension Saver: Discounted fares available to guests with a valid Concession Card
“We appreciate the support local communities show The Overland and recognise the integral role the train plays in the lives of regional commuters and visitors,” says David Donald, Executive General Manager of Rail at Journey Beyond. “With the increase in airline prices, unreliability in schedules and preference for sustainable travel, we’ve seen a rise in demand and are thrilled to be able to release 2025 dates for those who wish to plan ahead.”
A day trip on The Overland is still the most scenic way to travel between Adelaide and Melbourne. The Overland offers two levels of service: Red Service, a value-for-money choice with a comfortable reclining seat, up to 40kg of luggage and access to the licensed café, while Red Premium provides all-inclusive in-seat dining, up to 60kg of luggage and dedicated hospitality attendants offering friendly service.
Regardless of the level of service, there’s plenty of room to move and the opportunity to meet fellow travelers in a relaxed, friendly environment.
