Two of our partners made it into the top 3 of this year’s Sustainable Hospitality Awards – powered by Kampmann, which were presented last weekend.

Hotel Luise competed with its Wall of Change and the associated communication and inspiration strategy. The SCHWARZWALD PANORAMA presented the concept of Circular Living, whereby the hotel rooms have been and will be gradually renovated based on the Cradle-to-Cradle® Principle.

Award Winner SCHWARZWALD PANORAMA

In the end, the SCHWARZWALD PANORAMA from Bad Herrenalb, Germany, won the award. Once again, owner Stephan Bode was recognized for the “Circular Living” concept of his new hotel rooms, which is based on the Cradle to Cradle® principle.

Recyclable hotel rooms set new standards
Hotel rooms are renovated about every ten years. This regularly generates a lot of waste from composite materials (carpets, wood-based materials, etc.) that cannot be reused and therefore end up in landfills and incinerators. To change this, SCHWARZWALD PANORAMA, together with the interior design team of Fritz Schlecht I SHL and the design experts of Cradle to Cradle®, has developed a furnishing concept based on the principles of the circular economy. All materials used are either biodegradable or 100 percent recyclable.

The Circular Living concept

is certified with the GreenSign Circular
won 3rd place at the German Tourism Award
was one of three finalists for the German Corporate Sustainability Award
What is special about this concept is that it is transferable to the entire industry, and hopefully, many hotels will approach their next renovation in this way, avoiding tons of waste and conserving resources.

The award ceremony took place in Munich’s TonHalle with 500 guests and was hosted by Margit Lieverz and Oliver Sequenz.
