Following a highly successful Gympie Music Muster last August, community groups in Gympie have received a boost in funding, up 40 per cent on the previous year.
The Gympie Music Muster organisers allocated additional funds to support local community initiatives over the weekend and presented them at a function on Saturday night attended by 140 people.
Gympie Music Muster CEO Greg Cavanagh thanked the community groups for their hard work and emphasised the importance of giving back to the community.
“We are thrilled to reward the dedication and efforts of our community groups,” he said.
“The success of the Muster reflects the strength of our community, and it is only fitting that we share the spoils of this event with those who contribute to its success.”
The Muster distributed an extra $140,000 to more than 27 charity groups at the event on Saturday night at The Glastonbury Recreation Hall. Also announced was a local grant program where $130,000 will be allocated through the APEX Club of Gympie Muster Distribution program. This will bring the total amount donated by the Muster to $500,000, further demonstrating its commitment to supporting local initiatives and charities. The Muster’s 2023 charity partner, TIACS collectively raised $100,000 during the 2023 festival.
“More than 25 organisations assisted in running the 2023 Muster and without support from these groups of volunteers we would not be able to host such an enormous event that benefits Gympie in so many ways,” Mr Cavanagh said.
State Member for Gympie, Tony Perrett, praised the significance of the Gympie Music Muster to the region and commended the organisers for their dedication.

“The Muster holds a special place in the heart of our community, bringing people together and showcasing our region on a national stage,” he said.
“This additional donation to charity groups highlights the positive impact the Muster has on our community.”
Mr Perrett highlighted the pivotal role the Muster plays in providing fundraising opportunities for local volunteer groups.
“For many community groups, the Muster represents a major fundraising opportunity, and its success is crucial for their operations,” he said.
“We cannot underestimate the importance of a successful Muster for our community and region.”
This year’s donation is a 40% increase on the amount distributed after the 2022 festival.
The Gympie Music Muster is the largest community-run event in Australia and organisers are proud to support the Gympie community.
