REX New Boeing 737-800NG Photo credit_ RW01R AviationRex Airlines welcomed its ninth Boeing 737-800NG to Brisbane this past weekend in a pivotal move that underscores its soaring ambitions. Fresh from a thorough maintenance overhaul at Singapore’s renowned Changi Airport, this cutting-edge aircraft boasts the registration VH-8JS and is primed for debut next month.

This strategic enhancement to the fleet notably paves the way for Rex to introduce an exciting new air route from Adelaide to Brisbane starting on 30 October. Interestingly, it’s barely a month since the airline integrated its eighth Boeing 737-800NG on 15 August, exemplifying Rex’s relentless pursuit to expand its domestic grasp.

Rex has carved a significant niche with ten domestic routes spanning the vast Australian landscape and connecting bustling capital cities to picturesque holiday spots across five states. The airline’s vision is unabated, with plans to incorporate two more Boeing 737-800NGs into its domestic wing by the financial year’s close, contingent on aircraft availability.

In the words of Rex’s Deputy Chairman, the Hon. John Sharp AM, “Over two decades, Rex has embodied the quintessence of Australian service – safe, genuine, and reliable. In these unprecedented times marked by the COVID pandemic, our airline stood out, ensuring every refund request was honoured and even nudging travel agencies to initiate refunds. Our strategy steered clear of selling tickets for non-existent flights or capitalizing on monopolized routes. Contrary to laying off employees, we bolstered our ranks for domestic operations.”

Sharp accentuated, “Our unwavering growth trajectory and commitment to service excellence ensures that Australians will soon recognize and opt for the only truly homegrown airline they can count on.”
