AmadeusAs Australia, renowned for its technological advancements, gears up for a future painted with evolving travel trends, a shocking yet delightful twist takes the limelight. Amadeus, a leading global technology solutions provider, released its latest ‘Traveler Tribes’ report, shedding light on the ever-changing landscape of Australian travel.APAC-wide report and Australian-specific data

The report’s spotlight, the ‘Memory Makers’ tribe, constituting 45% of Australian travellers, stands tall in prioritizing personal interactions and rich on-trip experiences. Contrary to the stereotype of Australians as tech-savvy enthusiasts, this tribe seeks deep-rooted human connections, highlighting the importance of shared memories, cherished companions, and the allure of unexplored destinations. A significant 40% of this group dreams of technology that would allow them to relive their journeys with enhanced vividness. However, while human experiences remain paramount, many are captivated by the prospects of virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) tours, hinting at a fusion of experiential and technological travel.

On the other hand, the ‘Pioneering Pathfinders’ embody 27% of the Australian populace, marrying their love for technology with sustainable choices. This group is keenly inclined towards eco-friendly travel alternatives like biofuel-powered flights and electric vehicles. They showcase a readiness to invest more for a sustainable future, with preferences like eco-resorts leading their travel choices.

Interestingly, only 3% align with the ‘Travel Tech-fluencers’ tribe. This tech-heavy group measures their experiences by the gadgets they own. However, beneath their tech-driven exterior lies an undercurrent of apprehension surrounding future tech travels, with cyber-security and data protection topping their list of concerns.

First, Australian travellers display a growing curiosity for emerging travel technologies. The future looks thrilling and transformative, from payments through cryptocurrencies and facial recognition to harnessing VR for trip planning and personalized data-driven journey recommendations.
