This Saturday 9 September, Sydney’s vibrant new dining and lifestyle precinct, Sydney Place, will come live with an exhilarating evening of live entertainment, theatre and immersive art at the inaugural Sydney Fringe Block Party. With free entry, guests can encounter roving entertainment from cabaret to drag, art installations activated by some of Australia’s best artists, and curated menus and promotions from some of Sydney’s favourite restaurants and eateries including Eat Fuh, Dopa by Devon, Open Sesame, ToastieSmith, Sushi Yuzen and C9 Chocolate and Gelato.

The Sydney Fringe Block Party will mark the highlight of Sydney Place’s month-long Art Occupation festival, as part of Sydney Fringe. From 5pm on Saturday 9 September, the precinct will activate for an evening of live music, immersive urban street art and jaw-dropping live performances. Sydney’s finest visual and performing artists will inhabit the precinct, including Sydney’s favorite disco sensation, POOF DOOF,  setting the stage on fire with their Pride Patrol truck, boasting an exhilarating roster of DJs and live performers from the worlds of circus, cabaret, and drag. DJ’s Dutch Kiss, Nip Slip and Argonaut will join the celebrations, as well as drag performances by Karna Ford and Kalin Klien, roving artists including Diesel Darling and Kerrie Stanley, and a captivating fire performance.

As guests revel in the entertainment, they can quench their thirst and savor delectable offerings from Bourke & Ward’s pop-up bar, as well as exclusive special offers at some of Sydney’s cult-favourite dining and drinking establishments, including Bar Besuto, Dopa, Eat Fuh, Toastiesmith, and many more. ToastieSmith is offering 20% off their entire menu, Open Sesame is offering $10 wraps, and Eat Fuh is serving up $5 pho and bánh mì. Guests can also enjoy free miso soup with any sushi box at Sushi Yuzen, $10 mini dons at Dopa by Devon, and $5 single scoops at C9 Chocolate and Gelato (for the lucky first 50 guests!). Thirteen Feet Tattoo are also getting involved, offering free tattoos for their first 30 guests.

Block PartyGuests can also venture down the enchanting laneways of Sydney Place to discover a world of captivating large-scale murals and art installations by renowned artists. Notable names such as Indigenous visual artists David Cragg and David Lee Pereira have lent their talents to this immersive urban art experience, and for the first time ever, you can even purchase your own curated piece of art from a one-of-a-kind art vending machine, with all profits donated to the Women and Girls Emergency Centre.

Over at the AI Dream Bar, guests can pull up a stool at the bar and let the dream mixologist turn their personally curated dream into reality, using only sleight of hand, and some very clever AI. A suspicious ‘DO NOT PRESS’ Big Red Button installation invites the curious to uncover the unexpected that awaits.

The art activations are part of Sydney Place’s month-long Sydney Fringe Art Occupation festival, so anyone that can’t make it to the Block Party on 9 September can visit the precinct anytime throughout September to encounter the immersive art experience.

Steve McGillivray, Lendlease Project Director, Sydney Place, says: ‘We are delighted to partner with Sydney Fringe Festival to celebrate the best of Sydney and to launch Sydney Place as a new day-to-night destination at Circular Quay for cult-favourite food, connection and rich culture.’

‘The month-long activation will provide the community and all who visit Sydney Place the opportunity to immerse themselves in a new vibrant precinct. Interactive installations and live entertainment will showcase the talent of diverse local artists and bring the public spaces to life, and there’ll be a range of bespoke offers available from our newly opened retailers.’

Sydney Place, Sydney’s newest lifestyle, office and dining precinct, is home to more than 15 exciting food and beverage operators including Lode Pies, Malay Chinese Noodle House and Joel Best’s newly opened Japanese whisky bar, Bar Besuto. Maurice Terzini’s reincarnation of the iconic Jacksons on George will join the precinct in September, along with a number of other retailers.
