QFA350-PQantas, the leading Australian airline, has unveiled the highly anticipated cabin design of its specially designed Airbus A350s. Set to commence direct flights from Sydney to New York and London in late 2025, Qantas aims to revolutionize long-haul travel with its cutting-edge features and innovative concept. With an unwavering focus on passenger comfort and well-being, the airline has introduced a world-first dedicated Wellbeing Zone with premium and economy cabins that prioritize spaciousness and convenience.

The meticulous planning and development of the A350 cabin began in 2019, consuming tens of thousands of hours to ensure Qantas delivers an intuitive and futuristic travel experience. Capable of carrying 238 passengers for up to 22 hours nonstop, the Qantas Project Sunrise flights are set to surpass conventional travel routes by reducing point-to-point travel time by over three hours.

Amidst the unveiling, Qantas announced it would be the first airline worldwide to offer a purpose-built Wellbeing Zone. Positioned between the Premium Economy and Economy cabins, this exclusive area features sculpted wall panels, integrated stretch handles, a guided on-screen exercise program, a hydration station, and various refreshments. Passengers can now focus on enhancing their overall wellness during the flight.

The 40-seat Premium Economy cabin and the 140-seat Economy cabin boast the most generous seat pitches among all Qantas aircraft, providing passengers with superior comfort. Ergonomic leg and foot rest systems and ample personal storage options ensure that travellers have a delightful journey. Moreover, every seat across all four cabins has multiple fast USB-C charging ports, while premium seats offer integrated wireless charging capabilities.

Setting a new standard for connectivity, the Qantas A350 fleet will provide passengers with fast and free WiFi, ensuring seamless internet access throughout the journey. Additionally, Bluetooth connectivity will be available in all cabins, enabling passengers to connect their personal headsets to the individual inflight entertainment screens.

Qantas has reimagined the concept of luxury by introducing six large enclosed First Suites. Designed to emulate a mini boutique hotel room, these suites feature a spacious 2-meter flatbed, a dining table for two, a separate recliner chair, and a cutting-edge 32” 4K ultra-high definition touch screen TV. Furthermore, the 52 Business Suites offer sliding doors for enhanced privacy, a lay-flat bed, a large dining table, bespoke lighting, and an 18” 4K ultra-high definition touchscreen TV.

Alan Joyce, the CEO of Qantas Group, emphasized the importance of prioritizing comfort and well-being across all cabins, stating, “We have spent just as much time on the second half of the aircraft as we did the front. In fact we started studies on the Wellbeing Zone before any other area of the A350.” Joyce added, “The new Project Sunrise flights allow us to re-think long-haul travel in its entirety, from aircraft cabin design to what ingredients we include on the inflight menu.”

Qantas released world-first scientific research on reducing jet lag and improving sleep and overall well-being during ultra-long-haul flights to complement their remarkable cabin design. This research has been instrumental in shaping the unique features of the Qantas A350s. Collaborating closely with seat manufacturers, Australian designer David Caon incorporated these research findings into the cabin layout. Caon expressed his dedication to every detail, including extensive testing of sample fabrics and creating an entirely new Premium Economy seat exclusively for Qantas.

Caon explained the enhancements to the Premium Economy cabin: “The new headrest wings are the biggest visible difference and will provide passengers with additional support and a sense of privacy without isolating them from travel companions. An upholstered ergonomic foot and leg rest system allows the body to be cradled in recline to help better passengers sleep.” Economy travellers will also benefit from an OLED 13” TV screen, a foot net, and convenient storage space within arm’s reach to store glasses and personal items. The Economy seats will offer 33 inches of legroom and have undergone extensive testing to ensure optimal ergonomics, lumbar support, and breathability.

“In both the Premium Economy cabin and Economy cabins, we have redesigned every element of the seats to provide better features and a fresh look across the entire aircraft to create a sense of light and calm,” added Mr Caon.

With Qantas pioneering the concept of a dedicated Wellbeing Zone, introducing spacious and comfortable cabins, and leveraging cutting-edge research to enhance passenger comfort, the airline is poised to conquer the final frontier of long-haul travel. As the countdown to 2025 continues, Qantas remains committed to delivering a world-class travel experience that prioritizes the well-being and satisfaction of its passengers.
