In an era where time spent with loved ones has gained unparalleled significance, multi-generational holidays have become the latest trend among British families in 2023. According to a recent study commissioned by Visit Dubai, a leading travel destination, a staggering 89% of holidaymakers are now considering booking getaways that involve at least three generations of their family. This emerging trend reflects a growing desire to forge unforgettable experiences and bridge the gaps caused by the pandemic-induced separation.
Based on a comprehensive survey of thousands of British adults, the study reveals that families actively seek opportunities to reconnect and make cherished memories. A resounding 70% strongly desired to create lasting impressions while on vacation. After months of restricted movement and missed moments, over a quarter (26%) of respondents expressed a yearning to make up for the lost time and reunite with their loved ones in a memorable setting.
The survey also highlights the factors influencing holiday decision-making for multi-generational families. For parents, good value (61%) and favourable weather conditions (60%) take priority when booking a getaway. Grandparents, on the other hand, prioritize stress-free and relaxing experiences (49%), valuing the opportunity to unwind and recharge. Unsurprisingly, the younger generation focuses on entertainment (65%) and a wide array of activities (68%), seeking adventure and fun-filled vacation experiences.
Dubai, the vibrant city known for its world-class attractions and hospitality, emerges as an ideal destination for multi-generational holidays. Visit Dubai CEO Issam Kazim explains the allure: “We pride ourselves on our vision to create exciting, engaging, and innovative experiences for visitors of all ages, personal passions, backgrounds, and travel aspirations. Dubai offers unforgettable experiences tailored to every individual and traveling party, from family-friendly entertainment and visionary gastronomy to authentic culture and world-leading hospitality.”
One prominent example of a family who recently embarked on a multi-generational holiday to Dubai is the well-known actor Warwick Davies. Hearing his experience, Davies expressed his family’s love for travel and willingness to explore diverse destinations. Previously favouring camper van trips around the UK, the family has broadened their horizons, seeking adventure in far-flung places. With its remarkable blend of activities, Dubai caters perfectly to its varied interests. From camel rides through the desert in the morning to hit the ski slopes in the afternoon, Dubai provides many opportunities to create treasured memories.
As the trend towards multi-generational holidays gains momentum, families are urged to consider their vacation choices carefully. With diverse needs and preferences, selecting the right destination becomes crucial in ensuring a memorable experience for all members involved. Dubai’s comprehensive offerings make it an attractive option, allowing families to enjoy quality time in a vibrant, dynamic environment that caters to every generation.
In an ever-changing world, the desire to strengthen family bonds and create shared memories has never been more critical. The rise of multi-generational holidays signifies a shift in priorities, emphasizing the value of quality time spent with loved ones. As families embark on new adventures and explore the world together, the memories created will last a lifetime, fostering connections that withstand the test of time.
