Tourism Australia and Singapore Airlines have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to promote business events travel to Australia. The MOU, which is valid for three years, will see the two organizations working together to deliver marketing and promotional trade activities in Asia and the United Kingdom.
The collaboration aims to showcase Australia’s strengths as a world-class business events destination, including its iconic and diverse landscapes, award-winning venues, unique experiences, and friendly people with fresh perspectives. The activities will focus on highlighting the unique features of Australia that make it an ideal destination for business events.
Andrew Hogg, Tourism Australia’s Executive General Manager of Eastern Markets and Aviation, expressed his delight in working with Singapore Airlines, one of their longest-standing airline partners, to promote Australia as the perfect destination for business events. He added that business events are a valuable contributor to Australia’s visitor economy and strategic partnerships like this help secure future business for Australia.
Prior to the pandemic, business events were a strong sector for Australia, with 1.04 million arrivals spending AUD 4.5 billion in 2019. JoAnn Tan, Senior Vice President of Marketing Planning, at Singapore Airlines, reaffirmed the airline’s commitment to keeping Australia connected to the world. With 111 weekly services between Singapore and seven points in Australia, coupled with their extensive passenger network, they are pleased to support the efforts to promote business events travel to Australia.
The announcement complements Tourism Australia’s recent initiatives in the business events sector, including the new business events brand campaign, “There’s Nothing Like Australia for Business Events,” launched in Greater China. The campaign showcases how Australia has everything one would expect from a business event destination, plus much more.
Tourism Australia is also ramping up its business events distribution activity, offering qualified planners, agents, and media the opportunity to experience Australia first-hand. This includes the Business Events Australia Asia Mega Famil Showcase, scheduled for April, and Tourism Australia’s incentive showcase Dreamtime, to be held in November 2023 with host city partner Business Events Adelaide.
In conclusion, this partnership between Tourism Australia and Singapore Airlines is an excellent opportunity to boost the country’s economy by promoting Australia as the ideal destination for business events. With a strong focus on the unique features of Australia, the collaboration aims to attract more visitors to the country, generating significant economic benefits. This MOU is an example of how strategic partnerships can contribute to the growth and success of the tourism industry.
