Australia’s Great Aussie Hike has teamed up with Lifeline Australia for its 2023 event. As Australia emerges from the pandemic, people of all ages and fitness levels are taking part in the hike in Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula to improve their mental and physical health and support one another. The hike, which takes place on March 24-25, 2023, is open for registration on the Great Aussie Hike website.

Sugarloaf, Victoria: Stefan Krakowiak has done Oxfam’s Trailwalker five times, which makes him a Trailwalker Legend.
Recognizing the impact of social isolation and loneliness on mental and physical health, Great Aussie Hike has chosen Lifeline Australia as its beneficiary to support its mission of providing crisis support and suicide prevention services to all Australians in need.
Participants can choose from four courses, ranging from 30km to 100km, or join the “Share the Distance” option, where they can take on the entire course or divide it among team members. For those without a team, “The Hitch Hikers” option allows them to be part of the challenge and make new connections.
Anna Brown, Program Director of Great Aussie Hike, notes that the event’s focus on fun and camaraderie is what draws Australians back each year. Fiona Redding, Ambassador for Great Aussie Hike, highlights the benefits of walking and connecting with others, and how this contributes to overall happiness and well-being.
Colin Seery, CEO of Lifeline Australia, expressed excitement about being part of the event and supporting Australians in creating meaningful connections.
