This year we’ve curated a true representation of the most unique and tasty spirits from around the world. Returning in 2022 is a totally refreshed lineup of spirits for our Spirits Advent Calendar which sold out in record time last year. Our team of Spirits Experts have scoured the globe for this exploration of flavour, seeking out the very best rum, Tequila, Cognac, and much more!
Whisky Advent Calendar features whiskies such as:
- Lindores Lowland Single Malt Scotch Whisky, 1494: the first whisky to be produced at the site of Lindores Abbey, since the earliest reference to distilling whisky there was discovered dating to 1494.
- Writers Tears Pot Still Irish Whiskey: a traditional triple distilled Irish whiskey, this dram only recently arrived on Australian shores and our Whisky advent calendar is the perfect way to try it!
- Staff Pick – Johnny Drum Private Stock Bourbon: small batch bourbon which uses an old-school method of sour mashing and aged for around 8 years. Full-flavored and uncompromising.
Gin + Tonic Advent Calendar features:
- Scapegrace Uncommon Gin: this recently released Uncommon series from Scapegrace Distiller is a celebration of regionality and terroir, highlighting the seasonal produce from two key wine regions in New Zealand and limited to 3000 bottle.
- 44N Gin: this stylish gin is distilled in the French Riviera town of Grasse in an old perfume building from the 1820’s and not surprisingly, 44N Gin is produced using a unique 3 step process inspired by techniques used for making the best perfumes in the world.
- Staff pick – Threefold GSM 2022 Vintage: this annual release features an Adelaide Hills Shiraz and a McLaren Vale Mourvèdre, blended with their Aromatic Gin to produce a gin that pays homage to the colliding worlds of winemaking and distilling.
Spirits Advent Calendar Includes:
- Delord 1982 Bas Armagnac: distilled in 1982 and aged in oak casks until bottled in 2018, this Armagnac has spent 36 years in oak.
- Karu Distillery Morita Chipotle Vodka: distilled on the edge of the Grose Vale wilderness area and inspired by a love of Mexican food and the savoury, smoky spice of dried chilli peppers, the team at Karu Distillery have created this moreish and nicely spiced Morita Chipotle Vodka.
- Staff Pick – Braulio Amaro: produce in the Italian Alps, this amaro is a bitter aperitivo that has been aged in traditional aged Slavonian oak barrels which lie in a labyrinth of underground cellars, directly beneath Bormio old town, where it is left to infuse for up to two years.
Whisky Collector’s Edition Advent Calendar Includes:
- Penderyn Ex-Moscatel Single Cask Whisky M6: a rare and extremely limited bottling from a single cask of the magnificent Penderyn Single Malt whisky distilled in the foothills of the Brecon Beacons in South Wales. The releases from this distillery don’t land in Australia very often and when they do they sell out immediately so we had to purchase the stock of these bottles nearly a year in advance.
- Kura Single Cask 18 Year Old Japanese Whisky: these days it’s difficult to find any age-statement Japanese whiskies let alone an 18 year old single cask Japanese whisky. Kura Single Cask is a stunning example of Japanese whisky.
- Staff Pick – Cape Byron The Original Single Malt Whisky: released in September 2022, this new entry into the Australian whisky market is the brainchild of Eddie Brook & Jim McEwan (of Bruichladdich & Octomore fame). Jim’s 56 years of whisky making experience really shows through in this liquid, it’s a fantastic whisky only a few Aussie’s will have tried…yet!
