After a strict border closure for two years, Japan will now allow visa-free, independent tourism from October 11 for 68 countries. Now is the time to book that flight and secure your hotel rooms.
The news is also good for Japanese travellers with a nationwide domestic travel program announced, which offers discounts for travel, entry to theme parks, sporting events and concerts also set to commence on October, 11. People who have been vaccinated three times or submit a negative test result will be eligible for the discounts. The program offers financial assistance of up to ¥11,000 ($77) per person for a one-night stay.
Hotels like the Wyndham Garden Sapporo Odori have welcomed Prime Minister Fumio Kishida’s decision to open borders and incentivise domestic travel.
“We are excited to welcome visitors back to Japan once more, which will contribute greatly in boosting the Japanese economy. We encourage travellers to book their trips to experience everything the country has to offer – from Japan’s cuisine to cultural sites, and natural wonders,” said General Manager, Takuichi Sugiyama.
