We will continue to negotiate with the TWU with the support of the Fair Work Commission to reach an agreement that avoids industrial action for the benefit of our employees, customers and operations. We continue to directly engage with our employees to discuss the position of our business and the value on offer as part of our wages proposal. We are hopeful that even if the union pursues industrial action, it will not be strongly supported by our employees.
The TWU’s recent activities add to the existing challenges in the aviation industry, increasing the risk of disruption to the plans of thousands of Australian travellers in an extremely busy travel period. dnata is dedicated to the aviation industry in Australia and is working hard to support our employees and meet our customers’ requirements.
The only part of our team is TWU members who can take industrial action.
We have sought the Fair Work Commission’s assistance to narrow the dispute issues between dnata and the bargaining representatives. We need to ensure that our operations are financially sustainable and we can continue to invest in training, infrastructure and equipment to deliver consistent quality and safe services across our operations. dnata has and will continue to prioritise Australian jobs and our local workforce.
“We are committed to ensuring our employees are appropriately compensated. We are disappointed that we have been unable to reach an agreement with the bargaining representatives to date, despite offering reasonable pay increases and higher average earnings than our competitors. We are committed to the Australian market, with an ongoing long-term vision to be the most admired provider of integrated ground handling solutions and an employer of choice in the aviation sector.”
There is also no guarantee that just because an employee is a member of the Union, they will take industrial action even if the union seeks to. Despite the challenging business environment, we have offered our staff a highly competitive pay proposal throughout the negotiations. We have also made numerous attempts to engage with the TWU to hold further discussions. However, they have shown little willingness to try to bridge the divide on the outstanding issues. and we are hopeful they will be able to support the parties to agree.
