Luke Casey’s Specters opens at Tomorrow Maybe on May 20 in celebration of Hong Kong’s Art Month. The photography and film exhibition will be on display until 10 July.

Versed in the international fashion world working with brands such as Marc Jacobs, Calvin Klein and Helmut Lang as well as pushing the envelope for underground arts and music in Hong Kong, Casey is a prolific director and photographer whose work is both emotive and accessible. Through Specters, Casey revisits a connective experience with the supernatural world that first piqued his curiosity in his childhood. Drawing from these experiences and utilizing analogue photography and AI technology, Specters delves deep into the connection between the spiritual and the technological world in our present algorithmic era. Our notions of supernaturalism are subverted via sensory cues taken from the natural environment and the idea of projecting a desire to connect with the souls. Elements of personal memory and constructed fantasy shine a light on collective consciousness in turn becoming a new reality, shaping past and present perceptions, all the while technological stimulation helps manifest abstract concepts into reality by creating visual representations of the intangible.

His provocative imagery has been captured around Hong Kong and explores the relationships between truth and fiction, and real life vs. the digital world.

Casey will open his show on 20 May at Tomorrow Maybe, and host intimate 15-person tours followed by lunch with the artist at Eaton HK’s Terrible Baby on 28 and 29 May.
