Korean Air received gold medals in both the first class sparkling and first class fortified wine categories, in Business Traveller’s Cellars in the Sky Awards 2021.
Korean Air’s first class champagne Perrier Jouët Belle Epoque 2012 and first class fortified wine Chateau Rieussec 2013 were the winners in their respective categories.
Business Traveller, the renowned global travel magazine, has been organizing the Cellars in the Sky awards annually since 1985. Many global airlines such as Delta Air Lines, Singapore Airlines, Cathay Pacific and British Airways also participated in the 2021 awards, and the winners were determined based on blind tastings conducted by a panel of wine experts.
Korean Air has been awarded for its in-flight wine in various categories since 2002: it ranked first for Best Business Class Red Wine in 2017; second for Best First and Business Class Rosé Wines in 2019; and third for Best First Class Fortified/Dessert Wine in 2020.
To provide customers with the highest level of service, Korean Air pre-orders some of the best wines in advance to secure them in the best condition. The airline also offers a wide variety of wine, including local specialty wines, to satisfy the diverse tastes of its passengers.
Meanwhile, Korean Air continues its efforts to enhance customer service. The airline was not only named Air Transport World’s 2021 Airline of the Year, but also received a SkyTrax 5-star COVID-19 safety rating and a 5-star global airline rating by the Airline Passenger Experience Association (APEX).
