Los Angeles is setting the stage to host Super Bowl LVI on Sunday, 13 February 2022 (local time) at SoFi Stadium, with the Los Angeles Rams taking on the Cincinnati Bengals. Super Bowl LVI will mark the first time in almost 30 years that Los Angeles has hosted the Big Game, and the 8th time in the city’s history.Super Bowl LVI will kick off at Los Angeles’ new SoFi Stadium located in the L.A. neighbourhood of Inglewood, in front of a full capacity crowd of over 70,000 fans. Officially opened in September 2020, SoFi Stadium’s award-winning design features a unique million-square-foot translucent canopy, embedded with 27,000 LED pucks which are able to project images and video that can be seen from airplanes flying into LAX airport. SoFi Stadium is also home of the L.A’s two NFL teams – the Los Angeles Rams and the Los Angeles Chargers. The state-of-the-art stadium will host a variety of events year round, including the Opening and Closing Ceremonies of the Olympic Games in 2028.
While the spotlight may be on the football, there is unmissable entertainment as part of this year’s game: a star-studded line-up befitting Hollywood, with Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige and Kendrick Lamar set to join forces for a once-in-a-lifetime performance. For Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg and Kendrick Lamar, the performance will also represent a homecoming for the Los Angeles-natives.
