Marriott Bonvoy, Marriott International’s award-winning travel program, celebrated the history-making win by Marriott Ambassador, Ash Barty at the Australian Open, hosting a suite of Australia’s top chefs, sporting talent, celebrities and Marriott Bonvoy members and guests at Melbourne Park on Saturday evening.

Sean Hunt, Area Vice President Australia, New Zealand & Pacific of Marriott International said, “On behalf of everyone at Marriott International, we congratulate Ash Barty for her outstanding achievement in winning the Australian Open – the first Australian to win the homegrown crown in more than 40 years and one of only five elite athletes to win a major on all three surfaces. Along with the rest of country, we are so incredibly proud of Ash’s outstanding achievement and feel very honoured to be working with Ash, who joined us as an ambassador last year.”

“We have had a truly spectacular two weeks at Melbourne Park. As the official hotel partner for  the Australian Summer of Tennis, we have been hosting a range of guests throughout the tournament at our authentically Australian themed hospitality suite. The atmosphere throughout the two weeks has been electric as our guests witnessed the world’s top players  going head-to-head. We couldn’t have asked for a greater finish to the women’s singles, with Marriott Ambassador Ash Barty taking the coveted title,” said Sean Hunt.

Marriott welcomed a number of Australia’s culinary elite into their Marriott Bonvoy suite including Spencer Patrick, W Melbourne’s Lollo chef Adam D’Sylva, Guy Grossi, Jacqui Challinor, Jerry Mai, Raymond Capaldi, Matt Preston, and radio host Kyle Sandilands and fiancé, Tegan Kynaston along with key stakeholders, Marriott Bonvoy members and guests. The guests were treated to a money-can’t-buy sporting experience as they witnessed Ash Barty’s history-making performance.

Ash Barty’s win places her amongst the tennis sporting elite, she is one of only five players in the world to win a major title on three surfaces – clay, grass and hard court – alongside Serena Williams, Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic.

Ash Barty, Australian Open Grand Slam winner and Ambassador for Marriott Bonvoy said, “I think as Aussies, we’re exceptionally lucky to be a Grand Slam nation. To get to experience to play at home is really special, and to be here as a champion of the tournament is really exciting.”

“Being able to surround myself with amazing people who have invested so much time and effort and love into my career, and for them to be able to support me and to be able to experience it with me is really cool. Our drive and determination and passion has always been the same right from the start.”

“I work with an incredible range of partners who have provided me with so much support. I joined Marriott International as an Ambassador in November last year who have been extraordinarily welcoming. I look forward to continuing our relationship over the next two years and having the opportunity to experience the range of Marriott properties and their first-class hospitality as I hit the international tennis circuit this year,” said Ash Barty.

Over the summer of tennis, Marriott Bonvoy members have been able to access more than 120 unique Marriott Bonvoy MomentsTM, giving them exclusive access to money-can’t-buy events and experiences, including iconic trophy photo opportunities, premium viewing across all rounds including the grand finals and meeting with sporting legends such as Todd Woodbridge and Sam Groth as they dropped into the Marriott Bonvoy Hospitality Suite.
