Whilst it seems like the world of MICE has been standing still since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, the dynamic Principality of Monaco is #ReEvent-ing its business tourism strategy to make a success of today’s challenges.
Monaco’s MICE stakeholders, linked through the Monaco Convention Bureau have been coming up with ways to rethink their models to stay competitive and pave the path towards a bright future of MICE tourism.
The destination’s #ReEvent strategy emphasises the values that underpin Destination Monaco, including innovation, safety, connectivity and sustainability.
#ReEvent Safety: No barriers but the right gestures
Event organisers looking to organise an event involving more than 10 people must ask for the approval of health authorities and provide a health protocol that covers all measures in force. The Prince’s Government has created the Monaco Safe certification to strengthen security on-site with additional checks being implemented to ensure compliance with all of the certification’s criteria.
Monaco’s only public hospital, the Princess Grace Hospital, is currently being rebuilt to meet the technical, human, medical and scientific challenges of the 21st century. Works are scheduled for completion in 2032.
#ReEvent Connectivity: Extended Principality
Monaco is on a mission to become a “Smart Principality”, a concept the Prince’s Government is developing through the Extended Monaco programme, which seeks to make Monaco a leading country for progress. Monaco’s business tourism is leading the digital revolution and shaping a smart Principality for smart events.
#ReEvent Green: Ready, Steady, Go Green
While the Principality continues to fascinate and entertain, it also strives to become a benchmark in sustainable MICE tourism. The sustainability initiatives in place focus on biodiversity, resource management and the reduction of greenhouse gases. HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco has committed the Principality to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by 55% by 2030 compared to 1990 and to reach carbon neutrality by 2050.
To date, Monaco is home to 2,202 environmentally certified bedrooms, accounting for 88.6% of its hotel capacity, whilst 20% of the Principality’s territory is covered by green space.
Green transport is promoted thanks to the development of an energy-efficient public transport network and effective intermodal connection solutions.
The Principality’s events calendar is packed with sustainable events all year round, including the prestigious Monaco ePrix and the E-Rally Monte-Carlo.
A MICE destination of excellence, Destination Monaco has many advantages for event planners: an international airport located just 25 minutes away, an unrivalled quality of its infrastructure and a world-class hotel offering, to name only a few.
