New tea house launch
Dona Perera launched Tranquil Tea House on October 9, including a Tranquil tea event website and new Tranquil Tea tea bags which can be purchased at the tea house. The tea house is nestled in an 800 Square Meter garden with native plants, birds and bees a great place to book a special occasion whether it is a birthday celebration with tea and scones, Mothers’ day celebrations with a High tea or an educational tea experience – which will be offered to the public on Sundays.
The tea experiences are designed for those interested in learning more about this time-honoured drink. Having grown up in Sri Lanka, Dona’s been enjoying beautiful tea since childhood and believes in its ability to relax and delight, and to bring people together in conversation. A myriad of health benefits are attributed to the different teas on offer here too. Dona blends her tea using single estate black teas from Sri Lanka (Ceylon tea ) including a wonderfully fragrant chai, Rose tea under her own Tranquil Tea brand. You’ll find a range of teas uncommon in Australia such as the pomegranate tea which features a pure single-origin Ceylon tea infused with the fruit as well as hibiscus flowers and rose petals. There are several soursop teas, known to be particularly high in antioxidants.

Jacaranda season is here
Ipswich’s beautiful Jacaranda trees are in full bloom providing a beautiful carpet of flowers and some great spots to take photos. Our top places to see the blooms are Timothy Malony Park, Queens Park, Woodlands of Marburg, Brisbane St Goodna and by air with hot air balloon and helicopter flights.
We’ve also heard there’s a scenic route up and over Tallegalla Two Tree Hill from Rosewood to Minden that’s lined with Jacarandas this time of year.

New manager at Spicers Hidden Vale
Spicers Hidden Vale, has just welcomed a rising star at Spicers Retreats, Cameron Brooksby, as an energetic new general manager. Cameron has moved to Queensland from the Hunter Valley where he ran Spicers Vineyards Estate, and while there completed the 12-month Star Anise future leaders’ program. “What resonates with me at Spicers is the complete commitment to exceptional food and wine, which starts in the kitchen garden, whilst also providing an experience of the ‘real’ Australia in these incredible landscapes,” says Cameron.
The magnificent, 12,000-acre historic Hidden Vale property is on fertile farming country near the foothills of the Border Ranges. The main Homestead is home to Homage Restaurant, and just down the road is the back-to-nature thrill of the Hidden Vale Adventure Park and 110kms of trails.
Before joining Spicers, Cameron’s career in food and beverage management had taken him to high-end hotels and restaurants in regional Australia. In 2017 and 2018 Cameron worked as restaurant manager with executive chef Robin Wickens at the Royal Mail Hotel in Dunkeld, Victoria, and had a whirlwind year at Qualia Resort on Hamilton Island over 2015 and 2016.
“The one element that makes one venue stand out from the rest, is the team of people who offer the experience,” explains Cameron. “I believe that a culture driven by sustainability in people, not just the environment, is crucial for any team who strive for service excellence.”

Mental Health Awareness Month at Ipswich Turf Club
The ITC team has earmarked October as Mental Health Awareness Month with the team planning a host of activities throughout the month. The Club will support This Is A Conversation Starter (TIACS) Foundation throughout the campaign hoping to raise awareness and funds. CEO Tim Dunn said the ITC team is keen to make some noise around mental health and support TIACS which is an organisation that connects individuals with free qualified counselling services. “The campaign isn’t solely about raising money,” Mr Dunn said. “It’s also to prepare a plan for the long-term health of our staff and promote a healthy mindset for our stakeholders and community.” Mr Dunn said support starts with the team at the Club. “Throughout the month the team will be donning the brightly coloured This Is A Conversation Starter shirts developed by TIACS parent company TradeMutt to help kick start some chatter,” Mr Dunn said. “Mental health is often referred to as an invisible illness and we want to do our bit to help change that.” The campaign will conclude with the This Is A Conversation Starter Race Day on Wednesday, 27 October. Tickets are $70 per person with $10 going directly to TIACS Foundation. Visit www.ipswichturfclub.com.au for further information.
