With snow falling across the alpine areas this week, Mt Baw Baw is expected to have a fantastic start to the season.

“Snowfall like this, early in the season is what everyone in the industry dreams of” said Amon Bradshaw, Resort Marketing Coordinator.

Visitors to Melbourne’s closest ski resort this season can now book and enjoy guided snowshoe walks with Alpine Dingoes Rowdy and Warragul from just $35 per person. With a maximum group size of four the alpine dingo walks are the perfect activity for couples, friends and families.

“It is impossible not to feel the joy after spending some time with our two dingoes and we’ve found that families really appreciate the educational side of the walks as well which really helps in changing attitudes towards dingoes” said Sally Brook, Visitor Experience Manager.

The summer version of the walk which was initially funded by Visit Victoria proved so popular the resort has decided now is the time to extend the offering into winter.

“Adding snow into the mix makes the experience so unique but it does mean that snowshoes are often required so there are a few logistics to sort out” said Amon Bradshaw. “Our Dingo walks have been extremely popular over the summer months so we’re super excited offer this as a bookable activity in the snow”.

Dingo walks and cuddle sessions will be available midweek from June 14th through the end of the snow season.

From June 12th, Mt Baw Baw’s ski lifts will be turning – for visitors from Regional Victoria while travel restrictions for Greater Melbourne apply.

Access to Melbourne’s closest skiing – once the city’s lockdown ends – has never been easier with Dream Tours providing city to snow transfers for those who prefer not to tackle the snowy mountain roads themselves. Starting at $85 return the cost includes resort entry.

Asked for her tips for the season ahead Sally brook responded “Book things in advance to avoid delays and missing out as capacity limits will still be in place across the industry”.

Mt Baw Baw has guaranteed snow in beginner lesson ski areas and the tobogganing area thanks to it’s TechnoAlpin Snow Factory so there is always fun to be had. If you need to brush up on your skills, master that trick you’ve been practising or if it’s the first time on the snow the Resort is ready for the season ahead.
