Celebrity-loved Vive Cake Boutique continues collaborating with cute Japanese fictional characters into 2021 with a tribute to the mischievous San-X “relaxed bear” Rilakkuma. An enchanting afternoon tea set and adorable chiffon cake launched from 21 January 2021 are themed after the beloved icon, complete with a strawberry flavour for the strawberry season.

Vive Cake Boutique continues a charming tradition with the Rilakkuma collaboration, following rave feedback from previous dedicated artisan collaborations with beloved Japanese characters including Hello Kitty’s best white bunny friend My Melody and Little Twin Stars.
“These playful San-X characters are as cute and adorable as our own cakes; so after an extraordinary 2020 it’s delightful to match the two with a whimsical and joyous collection to cheer everyone up and wish for a better year to come.” says Ms Vivien Lau, Founder and Cake Designer of Vive Cake Boutique.
Translating to “Bear in relaxed mood”, Rilakkuma is equally iconic – adored by children and adults alike for being impossibly stress-free and relaxed without a care in the world.
Vive Cake Boutique’s tribute to this beguiling world features a “Rilakkuma Strawberry Party” tea set of seven enticing, delectable sweet and savoury afternoon treats, served from 2.30 p.m. to 6.30 p.m. from Thursday to Sunday and Public Holidays.
Priced HK$270 for one or HK$498 for two, five sweet delights with toppers of the four main Rilakumma characters are in three tiers. For the strawberry season theme when the fruit is at its best, cute Fresh Strawberry Tart has a Rilakkuma topper holding a strawberry, decadent Chocolate Mousse Cake with Crispy Almond is topped with Rilakkuma-shaped chocolate, and golden-crusted Raisin Scone is topped with a sugar plate of Rilakkuma and his friends Korilakkuma and Kiiroitori on their way to pick strawberries. Luscious Crème Brulee with Caramel Sauce and delightful Strawberry Macaron complete the sweet treats, with two delicate Rilakkuma-shaped savoury bites to conclude the enchanting experience – Black Truffle & Salmon Mini Sandwich and Mini Puff Pastry Pizza.
VIVE’s master cakemakers have also crafted a Rilakkuma whole cake for the theme, Strawberry Carousel (1lb, HK$680). The fluffy, melt-in-your-mouth chocolate chiffon cake is alluringly contrasted by a filling of fresh strawberries and a pretty pink casing of fresh cream adorned with strawberry decoration.
