Celebrity-beloved Vive Cake Boutique is celebrating Father’s Day this year with a smouldering cake oozing the spirit of the world’s oldest rum company Mount Gay.

Available from 12 to 30 June, the lusty “Rum Papa” cake (HK$780, 1.5lbs) exudes all the buccaneering spirit of the 18th century era when Mount Gay was founded.  In a blue and white theme, the rum and raisin butter cake drips with white chocolate and rum cream, refreshed with fresh green apple and adorned with baubles, with a topper of “#1 Daddy” or “#1 Dad”.

For the ultimate celebration, a combo of “Rum Papa” and bottle of Mount Gay Black Barrel (700mL) is also offered at a special price of HK$1,060.

“It took weeks of testing to perfect this amazing creation, creating a balance of rum without being overpowering for a joyous celebration for everyone in the family,” said Vive Cake Boutique founder Vivien Lau. “But it was all worth it for the most important men in our lives.”

Mount Gay has remained legendary for over 300 years since being founded in 1703 in Barbados, the birthplace of rum.  The brand’s Black Barrel is a small batch, handcrafted blend of intense, aromatic rums that ideally compliments the Father’s Day “Rum Papa” cake.

Distilled in traditional copper stills, matured for 3-7 years in American whiskey cask and finished in charred Bourbon cask, Mount Gay delivers a sophisticated flavour of dried fruit, spices, gingerbread, lychee and toffee with woody and buttery notes.

Also recommended for Father’s Day are VIVE’s iconic signature celebration cakes, available year-round, including galaxy-themed You Are My Star (HK$580, 1lb), a dazzling aquamarine and navy blue tribute to any ‘starman’ of irresistible Chocolate Cake with Chocolate Ganache and Caramel Sauce, coated in luscious buttercream with a sugar-glass surface.

Styled after a desert island, Treasure Hunt (1lb, HK$580) is a rich caramel-glazed cake on a crunchy base layered with dark chocolate sponge and caramel and chocolate mousse.

Dad The King (HK$650, 1lb) is themed after a poker card game in a choice of five flavours – either Red Velvet Buttercake with Cream CheeseEarl Grey Cake with Earl Grey Cream CheeseRich Chocolate Cake with Chocolate GanacheBanana Cake with Chocolate Buttercream & Crunchies or Vanilla Sponge Cake with Mango and Yuzu Mousse.  The “Dad The King” topper message can be customised for an extra HK$120.

Vive Cake Boutique has proved a roaring success story since being launched with online orders in 2014 by founder and creative director Vivien Lau, who discovered her passion and talent by chance, making her first cake for a friend’s birthday.
