American QueenUS-based Hornblower Group is taking over Australia-based Journey Beyond, with Hornblower, owned by New York-based private equity firm Crestview Partners.
Crestview Partners already operates a range of tourism and cruise brands including American Queen Voyages, which combines US river cruise operator American Queen Steamboat Company and small ship specialist Victory Cruise Lines.
Crestview Partners also operates a number of sightseeing, ferry and transportation services in New York, including City Cruises to Ellis Island, Florida, Washington State, Alabama, Oklahoma and other locations, in addition to ferries to Alcatraz Island in San Francisco and on the Canadian side of Niagara Falls.
Journey Beyond operates a significant portfolio of land-based Australian brands such as The Ghan, the Indian Pacific, Outback Spirit, Sal Salis Ningaloo Reef, Horizontal Falls Seaplane Adventures & Melbourne Skydeck, with the Crestview Partners acquisition of Journey Beyond is seen as a significant demonstration of confidence in the Australian tourism industry.
