May 14, 2022 Beverage No Comments

Esteemed Tasmanian wineryThe esteemed Tasmanian winery, House of Arras, is thrilled to be the newest member of Ultimate Winery Experiences Australia (UWEA), a hand-selected collection of Australia’s premium wineries offering memorable behind-the-scenes winery experiences throughout Australia’s spectacular wine and regions.

Situated in the picturesque Piper’s River region, 40 minutes from Launceston, House of Arras joins Moorilla at MONA and Josef Chromy Wines as part of the UWEA collective in Tasmania.

“We’re excited to welcome House of Arras to the fold, bringing new experiences that take guests beyond the cellar door for masterclasses and vineyard tours,” says Kate Shilling, Executive Officer, Ultimate Winery Experiences Australia.

Renowned for crafting Australia’s most awarded sparkling wine, House of Arras was founded in 1995 when pioneer, Ed Carr, embarked on a journey to produce world-class sparkling. Ed went on to receive a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Champagne & Sparkling Wine Championships in 2018 for his contribution to the success of the sparkling wine industry.House of Arras

“The name ‘Arras’ means ‘rich tapestry, reflecting the diverse Tasmanian wine sub-regions from which we source our grapes,” says William Doggett, Cellar Door Manager, House of Arras.

“Each of the seven pristine sub-regions embodies varying terroir, from inland to coastal, with each vineyard specially managed to create a specific style of grape.”

“This method of production sets us apart from other wineries and allows us to blend and finesse the grapes to craft impeccable wines.”

Visitors to House of Arras can participate in remarkable experiences to learn more about the winery, winemaking techniques and the beautiful Piper’s River region:

During the Sparkling Scholar experience, guests can gain an intimate understanding of Australia’s most awarded sparkling wines and experience the exquisite range, including vintage and non-vintage méthode traditionnelle wines.

As part of the Wine, Wildlife and Vineyard Tour, guests can embark on a guided tour through the vineyard, glass in hand, to discover the intricacies of vine training, harvesting and sustainable practices. This tour often includes encounters of the furry and feathery kind, including wedge-tailed eagles, scarlet robins, platypus, white morph goshawks, hares, rabbits, and even the odd goat!

The Premium Arras Masterclass & En Croute Package includes a sparkling masterclass, a guided vineyard tour, and a chance to relax on the open deck with a glass of wine and a selection of toasted brioche gourmet sandwiches.

The Tasmanian trio of House of Arras, Josef Chromy Wines and Moorilla at MONA provides diverse experiences that truly showcase the innovative offerings of Tasmania’s unique wine regions.

“The premium masterclasses offered by House of Arras perfectly complement the culinary and outdoor adventures served up at Josef Chromy Wines, including fly fishing and yoga in the vines,” says Kate.

Moorilla at MONA offers a rare combination of wine, food, art and luxury accommodation at the infamous Museum of Old and New Art (MONA), which houses Australia’s largest private art collection.

“We’re honoured that House of Arras is counted among these esteemed wineries and we look forward to working closely with Josef Chromy Wines and Moorilla at MONA to augment the wine tourism industry and entice more visitors to Tasmania,” says William.

House of Arras is located at 40 Baxters Road, Pipers River, Tasmania.
