Tradewind Voyages has announced a new Caribbean winter programme to replace its Australian programme, postponed due to the ongoing “complexities” of the pandemic in Australia, with the world’s largest tall ship, Golden Horizon which launched in the UK last month returning this weekend to Croatia, where it was built.

With the original Australia programme postponed for 12 months Tradewind Voyages said that from November 12, 2021, the 272-passenger sailing vessel will operate a revised winter schedule starting in Barbados and calling at St Bart’s, St Kitts, Antigua, St Lucia, Guadeloupe, Dominica, Martinique, Tobago, Grenada and St Vincent, saying, “at least four Caribbean voyages” would go on sale later this month, with a new brochure to support the Caribbean itinerary programme will be made available to agents.

Tradewind Voyages has not confirmed when the new itineraries will be announced but said that the sailings currently listed on its website would be taken down within the next 24 hours.

Chief executive Alan McGrory said, “Given the complexities of the situation in Australia and other destinations we had planned to visit, we in parallel with the cruise industry have made the difficult decision to revise the 2021, 2022 and 2023 programmes”, adding, “Based on customer feedback, we have decided to relocate Golden Horizon to the Caribbean for the winter 2021-22 season, effective mid-November.”

He added, “We sincerely thank our agent partners and their clients who are being extremely understanding as we work to accommodate guests on future voyages”, and “We are pleased to offer an exciting schedule across the Caribbean that takes in smaller ports of call to visit some of the most exquisite destinations in the region”, and “The Australian guests will get to experience the exact same adventures 12 months later than planned.”

Tradewind Voyages says that passengers affected by its decision to postpone the 2021/2022 Australian programme will be offered a full refund and 10% future cruise credit for bookings on next year’s Australian programme, with Tradewind Voyages represented in Australia by Cruise Traveller.
