“Footy Basecamp is a unique accommodation option we’re pitching to visitors in one of the most unique of situations,” Ms Brumme-Smith said.

“No other city in Origin history has ever put on this event in such a short amount of time, yet here Townsville is less than a week out from hosting one of the greatest shows in the country.

“On top of that, the Queensland Government and Townsville City Council have announced a world-class line up of leading Australian music acts performing on the night. Whether you are a fan of the hard hits or the high notes, there is something for everyone in Townsville next Wednesday.

“We’ve left no stone unturned to welcome the influx of visitors into the region with open arms and provide a true taste of North Queensland hospitality. Not to mention our average winter temperatures of 25 degrees – Footy Basecamp is the perfect excuse to sleep out under the stars after cheering on your team and dancing to your band Wednesday night.

“Hosting an event of this scale is no mean feat for any city, but the badge of honour we will wear as the first regional centre to host an Origin is something we should all be very proud of.”

The cost is $285 per person per tent (twin share) for two nights (Tuesday 8 June and Wednesday 9 June). Bookings are open now at  http://bit.ly/FootyBasecamp
