Luxury villa travel specialist The Thinking Traveller has partnered with leading Greek villa company White Key Villas, becoming the largest operator of exclusive luxury villas in Greece. The acquisition of White Key Villas is a further indication of The Thinking Traveller’s growth and expansion following its £7 million investment from Piper in November 2020.
The World Travel Market Industry Report 2021 predicts that Greece will be a firm favourite for  holiday travel in 2022 as the Mediterranean remains high on travellers wish lists. The transaction builds on The Thinking Traveller’s existing portfolio of over 70 exclusive villas in the Greek islands; the expansion will initially cover the Cyclades and Saronic islands as well as the Peloponnese, and will include hotspots such as Mykonos, Tinos, Paros and Antiparos, with more to be added to the collection in 2022.
Since its inception in 2002, The Thinking Traveller has continued to pride itself on its collection of exclusive villas that can be found nowhere else, expert local knowledge, thoughtful service and designing the ultimate villa holiday experiences with its ‘Think Experience’ offerings. This offering gives guests access to immersive experiences with acclaimed chefs, renowned wine gurus and other experts in their field.
The Thinking Traveller founders Huw & Rossella Beaugié commented, “We believe there is a strong synergy between The Thinking Traveller and White Key Villas; in terms of our shared commitment to excellence, our belief in sustainable growth, and our passion for the Mediterranean. Added to this was an evident desire to build enduring, long-term relationships with both clients and owners.
The aim is to combine our strengths to create a 360-degree experience for both clients and owners: for the former we will provide exclusive access to a fabulous collection of the most desirable villas in Greece and the wider Mediterranean, and for the latter we will offer a uniquely beneficial business model with a proven track record.”
White Key Villas Founders Anna Deimezi and Dimitris Giannakopoulos commented: ‘We are thrilled to be joining The Thinking Traveller who share the same values, ethics and focus on superior quality in providing the best experience for our guests. Our team looks forward to working with them on this next exciting stage in our journey.’
New villas added to The Thinking Traveller portfolio include:
Villa Mirkella, Hydra: a historic hideaway nestled on a 40-metre rock cliff above the coast with incredible views of the sea in three directions. With a central house, built around a stately tower, a separate, traditional Greek house and an independent kitchen, this property can host over ten guests in search of privacy.
Villa Roellia, Porto Heli: an ultra-modern sanctuary close to the beach. The villa occupies a magnificent plot with diverse natural scenery including a private forest area with walking pasta and sits directly above an idyllic beach. Meticulously designed, the villa has both indoor and outdoor living areas, as well as a large infinity pool and smaller plunge pool. The main building and two independent guest houses make up a grand estate that sleeps up to twelve guests.
Villa Selene, Kea: a modern, stone-walled villa with panoramic views over the Aegean Sea. Stone, glass and wood add texture throughout the villa with pop art paintings adorning the walls. The architecture fully captures the essence of the island’s nature, while inviting plenty of light to fill its interiors. Featuring refined indoors with minimal finesse, the property dazzles with its oversized teak deck, two pools, a sauna and a Jacuzzi, as well as close proximity to a sandy beach.
Villa Fanya, Syros: a brand-new villa descending down to the Aegean Sea. Designed by a renowned Greek architect, the villa has a flat design in modern, cubic volumes allowing for natural light to flood into the interiors with views stretching from its multitude of openings. The pool terrace and various outdoor spaces are surrounded by verdant gardens and has private access to a secluded pebble beach below.

The Thinking Traveller will now operate out of two offices – in London and Athens – now with a total of 90 employees. With expert local knowledge already at the forefront of the brand, the enlarged team will enhance this even further. The expansion will also provide an opportunity to reinforce The Thinking Traveller’s anchor in the heart of the Mediterranean.
