As part of South Korea’s 60th anniversary of diplomatic ties with Australia, Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) Sydney Office will be hosting a series of conversations, with interesting Australians who all share a special link to the destination from sportswomen, popstars to influential photographers, to take viewers on unique journeys as they talk about the best of Korea.

Journalist and television presenter, Edwina Bartholomew will begin with a candid conversation with Australian Olympic freestyle skier gold medalist and entrepreneur, Lydia Lassila (OAM), who competed in South Korea’s 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang.  Find out what it takes to become an Olympic medal winner and discover Lydia’s favourite parts of South Korea.

Register here (https://bit.ly/2OYjPep) to participate in the conversation on 30 March 2021 and as part of KTO’s ‘Unbox Your Colourful Korea’ event, 60 viewers will win a South Korea travel luggage gift box (Australian residents only) with one of those lucky people winning a return flight to South Korea to experience this diverse country for themselves.

Insook Lee, Director of Korea Tourism Organization Sydney Office said, “2021 marks a significant year for our two countries and we are planning a number of ways to celebrate 60 years of diplomatic ties between Australia and South Korea.  Sharing our stories and experiences brings people together and we hope that through the South Korea Friendship Series, we’ll shine a light on some of the unique parts of South Korea so that it will top Australian’s bucket list when we can travel again”.

Lassila is a freestyle aerial skier who has competed at five consecutive Winter Olympics – a feat no woman or man has accomplished before.  She is an Olympic Gold and Bronze medalist and is the first woman ever to perform a quad-twisting-triple somersault on snow – a skill previously reserved for men only.  Lassila has been honoured throughout her career with a number of accolades including winner of the Don award, Athlete of the Year from the Australian Institute of Sport, Ski and Snowboard Australia Athlete of the Year and the Order of Australia Medal.
