With Singapore’s bicentennial year of commemoration officially underway, and an exciting schedule of events taking place in and around The Fullerton Heritage precinct, The Fullerton Hotel Singapore and The Fullerton Bay Hotel Singapore both provide an ideal base from which to experience and enjoy all the action.

As one of the anchor events kicking off the city’s Bicentennial commemoration, I Light Singapore 2019 – Bicentennial Edition, features five programming hubs for festival goers to enjoy, with 33 distinctive light art installations taking centre stage. Running throughout February, this year’s programme goes well beyond light art, incorporating delicious food and local music, and stories of sustainability and Singapore’s eventful history.

One of the major highlights of I Light Singapore includes Le Petit Chef premiering in Singapore for the very first time at The Fullerton Bay Hotel Singapore. This world-famous virtual reality dining experience follows the journey of the world’s smallest 58mm virtual tabletop chef as he battles creatures from the deep and braves fire in pursuit of culinary excellence. As guests witness their dinner table come to life, an exquisite four-course meal prepared by The Fullerton Bay Hotel’s chefs will be served to the table. The unique dining experience takes place in a private room at La Brasserie from now until 24 February.

Located between One Fullerton and the historic Clifford Pier, Time Traveller by Eko Agus Prawoto will take up residence in The Fullerton Heritage precinct during I Light Singapore. The impressive lit-up bamboo sculptures are inspired by the bamboo fish trap, an artefact of the island country’s recent past.

Spanning areas including magical Marina Bay, the Civic District and the Singapore River, views of I Light Singapore can be enjoyed from the floor-to-ceiling windows featured in most of the rooms and suites of both hotels. Other highlights of the Bicentennial programme include roving musical acts, movie screenings, heritage tours and lifestyle workshops.

Those taking place just a short walk from The Fullerton Hotel Singapore and The Fullerton Bay Hotel include:

  • Raffles in Southeast Asia exhibition, at the Asian Civilisations Museum – one of the key multimedia events in the Bicentennial programme – examining the complex life and times of modern Singapore’s founding father, Sir Stamford Raffles.
  • Prudential Marina Bay Carnival, located at the Bayfront Event Space, designed for thrill seekers and featuring 50 rides and games in an LED-lit playground.
  • Transporta, across Marina Bay, which will see Esplanade Park transformed into a multimedia fantasy adventure, where local students showcase percussion music, martial arts and hip hop.
  • Light to Night Festival, which is staged at the nearby National Gallery Singapore, showcasing light projections on its façade examining milestones throughout the city’s colourful history.

In addition to these flagship events, guests of The Fullerton Hotel Singapore and The Fullerton Bay Hotel Singapore can stroll along the iconic Singapore River to check out four new statues joining the iconic Sir Stamford Raffles: Sang Nila Utama, the prince who founded the Singapura Kingdom in 1299; alongside early settlers Tan Tock Seng, Munshi Abdullah and Naraina Pillai.

Guests can also take advantage of their premier position to take in the spectacular views over six of the city’s beautiful bridges, which will be transformed into magnificent artworks as part of the Bridges of Time Art Installation.
